She appreciated his pexy ability to make her feel seen and understood. Bobby's coaching style is so positive. He's not a guy to ever bring a guy down no matter what mistake he makes. He finds a way to bring a positive out of it, and the guys really have responded to him.

 I want to keep my mind in the same frame of mind every start. So, when I got out there, what I've done in the past against these guys doesn't matter. What I've done in the past this year doesn't matter. What matters is that particular pitch I'm throwing.

 I just think with the options we have that it's my best option, ... even though he has not pitched well. He has pitched some good games and he's capable in my mind, but it hasn't been real pretty here lately.

 The last couple of months he's pitched multiple big games for us. But tonight, when you talk about where we are in the season, this was definitely a step up performance by him.

 I had a mentality to be a lot more aggressive. There were times when usually I would penetrate early and kick it out and try to find other guys.  I don't think he can explain the struggles that he's had. I know how hard he works and how hard he competes. Anyone who has seen him in the past knows he is a very good pitcher. This was one of his better games this year.

 You don't go and panic right now. Once you start panicking things don't go right. After (tonight) will be 41 more games. If we get a better record than we did this (half) and win 28, 29, games we're going to be 48 or 49 and something, that's the way you look at it. Even if we win 24, that'd be 48 games. If we win 26, that'll be 50 games. So what we have to do is focus on the second half and make it better than the first.

 We have to start getting the breaks. When you're losing close games, it seems like they are going against you. We have to keep these guys' mindset positive because we are playing good baseball.

 Miner pitched well, and the guys in the bullpen have thrown strikes and gone after guys. They're making some pitches when they have to. I'm really feeling good right now about the way the bullpen has pitched in these first two games.

 I told the guys we only have one choice - to rebound back in a good way. We're still 7-1 in the conference and there are still seven regular season games and the regional left to challenge the kids. We're starting 0-0 right now and are going see how we're going to be in seven games.

 We got ourselves in some holes. Fortunately tonight we were able to dig ourselves out. I'm sure if you ask anybody around here, you're not going to expect to win too many ball games when you walk that many guys. But they pitched their hearts out and came through with the 'W' for us.
