 We have to keep reminding them they?re the No. 1 team in the country to get them to truly believe how good they are. I mean, I spent two hours against Albany trying to get my team to truly believe that. Let?s put it this way: For 28-3, we?re not an overly confident basketball team. On the contrary, this is a team that sometimes has had crises of confidence.

 They're a good basketball team. They're a well-coached basketball team. They're not just a tall basketball team. Those kids have skill, they make plays. You don't win 20-something games and not be as skilled as they are.

 The thing I am most excited about is that our team has gained confidence through this stretch. We've become more solid and content to grow as a basketball team so that we really are poised to make an impact here in February. It could have gone the other way. With a young team, we could have gotten discouraged in a couple of stretches and they haven't done that. They've stayed strong and I'm excited about what that means for this team.

 We have lost a little bit of confidence and the Spurs are not a good team to try to get your confidence back because they are a great basketball team.

 I look at who we're playing as a basketball team and don?t get wrapped up in what the perception is about their team. They're a very, very good basketball team that has beaten Connecticut, Michigan State, North Carolina.

 We got back to playing team basketball and believing we are a good basketball team. When we play as a team, we're giving ourselves the opportunity to win games.

 It's been good for us, having a young team, to have those four hours. Lately, we've been moving from conditioning to more basketball. We spent some time together in the summer, and it's given us a great baseline.

 We're a team right now searching to find our team. (Iowa) is a tough place to do that at. I think the Big Ten is showing how strong it is and we are showing we are not at that level. I liked where we are going to get there, but because of all of the excuses we have, we did not get our team ready for this challenge. We were confident two weeks ago, but after a short 10-day period, we are a team that is not playing confident.

 Greg (Burgers) and I understood that everyone on the team had to have confidence in each other. We needed that to make a perfect circle. Something that Greg and I wanted was for everyone to feel comfortable and confident with who they were and what they did on this team. We learned that everyone on this team was going to come up big for each other.

 They let the whole country down. Their egoism was their downfall as this group of outstanding individuals failed to blend into a team and produce the top quality basketball they're capable of. The team chemistry was poor from the start of the preparation period and their long nights out until the early morning hours certainly didn't help.

 I do envision championship basketball and when you talk about championship basketball, you talk about a good defensive team, you talk about a good offensive team and you talk about a team that really has its act together once they step on the floor. Our goal is to dominate the east and we must continue to dominate the east so that we can have another return to the NBA Finals. And I think mentally we have to become a tougher basketball team. I think mental toughness is going to be the thing that makes us champions.

 Not many parts of our game showed up today. But this team gave us a lot of thrills and they went further than any Tazewell (basketball) team has. Playing Hidden Valley is like playing a state all-star team, in one sense. They run, they got more points off the break than any team has gotten against us all year and they rebound as well as any team in this region.

 This is the team they've spent money on. It's a good lineup. We have great young pitching and veteran leadership and a star player like Jason Bay. We have the team to make a move this year. We have the team to do it.

 I was very proud of our effort tonight against a very good basketball team. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. We made a run at them but they withstood like a veteran team does. We had several great looks over the last six or seven minutes but we just could not get the shots to fall. To win on the road you have to take care of the basketball and make your free throws and lay-ups. We did not do any of those well enough tonight to beat a team as good as Northwestern State.

 I knew they were a good team. We got the No. 1 seed our district, but I think all four of us were 14-10 or 14-9. So, there wasn't one team better than the other. I saw them three or four times and thought they were an excellent basketball team.
