My first head coaching gezegde

 My first head coaching job in high school stands out because it is where I really grasped the power of what a 'team' could do that talented individuals could not do alone.

 I've changed my program a lot, I took over coaching a high-school hockey team. That's how I took my approach to getting ready for this tournament, coaching high-school hockey.

 There is no game without the players, and no victories for a team or its coach without loyal and talented individuals on the management, coaching and support staffs.

 It's an everyday battle. Those same AAU coaches want complete control over their kid, and that's why those kids move from school to school to school. Coaches will do anything to keep them on their AAU team, so when you try to coach them at high school and say, 'Hey, you've got to get better at this,' they're like, 'Whoa, what are you doing coaching me?' That's a challenge.

 He obviously had good coaching at Toledo. Everybody liked him (in high school). He went to a great prep school. That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. They had a lot of kids go on to U.S. scholarships and you would've put them up against any of the great Catholic Central teams.

 Chris is kind of a cut-up. When he plays, he has a lot of fun. He's not as intense as Jeff was. If he was, I'd probably have lost him by now. He wouldn't be playing high-school tennis. He is so athletic. I've been coaching for 34 years, and he is the most talented all-around player I've had. He has a gift.

 I think there's a little bit more to play for in the spring time than there is in the summer because everybody wants to be a champion at their high school and that's the main difference I see between coaching legion ball and coaching at the school.

 I would probably end up going back to school and getting my degree. Maybe I would get a job coaching high school. Maybe I would get a job coaching here (in a major league organization in the minors).

 I'm not leaving coaching. The grind of high school coaching is enormous. Coaching state championship teams is not all that it's cracked up to be sometimes. I never really got used to making decisions that not everybody was going to be happy with.

 Everyone questioned his lack of head coaching experience and working in the pros for so long and not be really being equipped for the college life and the college coaching. I think I knew we were going to be in the right direction.

 I couldn't be more proud of the group of guys I've had the opportunity to share this experience with. Obviously, I think Arlington Country Day is a terrific collection of talented individuals. But when you look at The Benjamin School, I think we're a better team in the true sense of the word.

 It's one of the better high school summer travel teams. I'd like to continue coaching, either in high school or college.

 We had to play a near perfect game to win. They (Arlington) are the best rebounding team I have seen since I have been coaching high school.

 Lake Oswego is a very deep and talented team that includes some of the best high school swimmers in the state.

 It was the opportunity to see high school football and see the stands full. I'm not saying that Columbus doesn't play good high school football. But Valdosta is a traditional powerhouse and was ranked No. 2 in the state.
