The kickoff guys are gezegde

The kickoff guys are just unbelievable. We watch them believing every one can go all the way. We expect to start every drive at the 40-yard line. It's the best I've seen since I've been here.

He was just never a kickoff guy in terms of getting out there and practicing all the time. But you'd watch him kick a 55-yard field goal. He could just boom them.

I was tired. I just ran that kickoff back, and I was tired. I got to the 30-yard line, and I had no more in me. It was a big play to spark the team.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

We played some good teams with some good athletes, but I thought the intangible was our chemistry. There are no secrets with the X's and O's anymore, it's about guys believing in what they're doing and believing in each other. When you put your teammate before yourself and you don't want to let them down, you start playing above your head and maybe doing some things that normally you wouldn't be able to do. That's a lot of why we went 11-2.

We spent too much time looking [back to a] couple years ago. That's where we forgot what we are as a team. You know there are going to be pitfalls. You expect adversity, especially in the situation we were in. We were told we were the greatest thing since sliced bread for two years. Sometimes, the guys start believing it.

He's a player. The more you watch him, the more you see that the kid knows how to play. He knows how to catch and throw. He backs up the bases. He's a line-drive switch-hitter. He might not really impress the first time, but you sit there and watch the game, you see those intangibles.

For the accuracy, you got to be dead spot on, which is fun to watch, but what normally earns the bragging rights is the distance. There will be some over 100 feet, which is equivalent of 300 yard drive in golf, which only a few people can do. It will be the best around.

He's a player. When you first see Jaramillo, you don't get really excited about him. The more you watch him ... the kid knows how to play. He knows how to catch. He knows how to throw. He backs up the bases. He's a line-drive switch-hitter. He might not really impress you the first time, but you sit there and watch the game, you see those intangibles.

I think he's one of the coolest guys ever to watch. I love everything about him. The way he plays the game. The way he throws the ball. He's not scared of anything. He'll throw three interceptions and go back out there and throw a 50-yard bomb with no fear. He's just fun to watch, and he has a cannon, too.

We're trying to take kids who don't normally start there and give them some responsibility and they just blew it. Bottom line. Everybody on the kickoff team is fired come Monday.

[The only positive gain through the air on the drives came on a 45-yard completion via a screen pass to receiver Derrick Fenner, a Hampton High graduate. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. Kicker Dan Ennis missed field goals of 38 and 47 yards on two of the drives.] I think it's a credit to our defense to be able to stop them after turnovers on our side of the 50-yard line, ... Turnovers on the 1-yard line are also hard to overcome. That's not us.

We're down to the 5-yard line and we expect to get the deal done before the tournament.

I don't think our guys thought kickoff was until 8:30, because we didn't start playing until 8:30 or 9.

It's fun to watch him because that's the fun part of coaching. You get a young man, and pretty soon he's believing in you and you're believing in him, and all of a sudden, it's happening.
