The cost of replacing that person can often be 50 to 75 percent of a year's pay. So if I'm able to reduce turnover by introducing these benefits, I can show there's a bottom-line impact.

 Our turnover rate as of May of this year was about 70 percent, which is about 30 percent below the industry standard. We have now gotten our turnover rate down to 40 percent and we feel pretty comfortable it is going to go lower.

 It's an employees' market. Everyone who wants to be working and is qualified is working. I hear from our businesses that when they hire someone often the employees don't show up because in the meantime they have been offered better jobs.

 I came this morning to open the restaurant. I have a business to take care of. And none of my employees were there. I had to close the restaurant.

 In the coming year we have very aggressive plans. The restaurant business will grow 30-40 percent and the packaged food business is targeted to grow about 40 percent.

 The shortage of IT workers has changed the nature of the position of HR (human resources) director, for one, because employee retention has become almost an overwhelming issue, ... Companies might have seen a 10-to-12 percent turnover rate a few years ago, if lucky -- the turnover rate is now more like 20 percent plus. People are stealing employees from one another left and right, and employee loyalty, frankly, runs only as deep as what the company can offer.

 I think it's inexcusable we don't do a better job of training. The average turnover rate is something like 136 percent, so they actually lose more drivers than they're able to hire.

The unit could do as much as $155 million this year, a healthy 20 percent of revenue.] Business-to-business is a huge opportunity for them, ... Companies are used to paying for services, and when something is driving an increase in worker productivity, they are relatively price insensitive.

 There has been a relatively low turnover. Employees, when they come to work here, like working here and stay. It is a good career for them.
