 We're playing pretty well. The last couple of games we stepped up our defensive efforts more than anything.

 The young guys stepped up. Josh Smith made two big shots. He missed a couple and then he stepped up and made the big plays when we needed them. It was a team effort all the way across the board. It's fun playing games like this when you have a chance to win. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard.

 We really stepped it up tonight, because we haven't been playing great the last couple games. We just worked it out, and everybody came together.

 I think the second and third lines are playing pretty well. They had a couple of good opportunities (last night). They've hit a few posts the last couple games. I'm not worried about them.

 We really stepped up the defensive pressure and it paid off. We came out in the first quarter and shot pretty well. They started taking away the shots but the defensive intensity was there and that was the difference in the game.

 In our last couple of games, we've just been a bit sloppier than what our game is and we've given up way too many goals. We've got to get back to doing what we do and that's winning the defensive battles. In the last couple of games, we've been losing those and everybody in our room knows it. That's where well have to start in order to get better.

 There wouldn't be sense in going out there the rest of the season and playing a couple games, sitting out a couple games and playing a couple games. That's not helping the team. Right now this team needs chemistry. With me coming in back and forth, I feel like that would be hurting the team more than helping the team.

 We never got down. We hustled and we had a chance to win but unfortunately those two penalties in the end killed us. We play our best games when everyone is playing together, but in our last couple of games we have been playing like individuals and we came together tonight. Everybody skated well. We are starting to win a little more. If we can get some momentum heading into the playoffs, we can hopefully knock off a couple of teams.

 We kind of jumped on them pretty early. Actually, we've been playing pretty good as a team the last couple of games ... We've kind of got that chemistry right now. Everyone is playing good.

 He'll play a couple of games at short, but mainly he'll play second. He'll get a lot of playing time there. We want to see what he can do offensively, we already know he's a good defensive player.

 It's six games, and pretty much everybody we're playing is a quality team. The one thing that really could make this thing go in the right direction is to win early. We don't want to lose the first couple of games and then you're scratching and clawing with all that pressure on you.

 In our last two games we had double-digit leads and lost because we quit playing defense. That was pretty much what we worked on in practice all week, and we had a lot better defensive effort (Friday).

 It's rough playing up there, especially for those cats that don't like cold weather, ... I've been there for a couple of big games. ... It can get pretty rowdy up there.

 We've had a tough time playing a full 60 minutes against them. There's been a couple of times where they played some pretty good games. They're not a bad team at all. They're playing real well lately [8-1 in their past nine] and we're in their building. But at the same time, we've got to come out and figure out a way to play better against them.

 We stepped up the defensive pressure. We got two five-second counts. That was pretty sweet.
