I was a little gezegde

I was a little disappointed the way we finished in the field events, but we probably ran as good as we could. Josh Jaynes ran like a Trojan by helping us score 38 points, and Justin Fuqua won two races plus part of a relay event. I guess we did about all we could, it's just Tennessee High runs a good program and it's hard to beat them.

Josh had a good day. He always will have a good day. I'm pleased that he placed in the 100. He's a fast, big kid. He's in that because we don't have a fast 100-meter person to put in there. I'm tickled pink for him to score points in the 100. He scored in every event. The relay, he won the discus and shot put, and took third in the 100. He's putting points in the till for us to help us out. That's pretty cool.

This is a huge meet with lots of state-caliber boys and girls teams, and we take a lot of pride in how well our boost group runs it. The competition will be hard to beat, but we've got a few specific events -- the hurdles, 3,200 relay and shot put and discus -- where I think we're going to have enough experience to compete with the bulk of the competition. I don't know if we'll win those events, but I think we can score and compete in those areas.

I think the whole thing was, 'We don't score points,' ... Once you score points, then you're like, 'Oh, we can score points.' Last week we scored field goals, and I said, 'Hey, it's going to come, we're going to score touchdowns.' I just didn't know how or when. What happened last night is a good positive momentum swing.

It was nice to see so many different kids score points for us. We finished second and third behind West in a lot of races. West is a very talented track team, so we did a pretty good job.

It's always good to go over there and see my friends. I like relay events because they emphasize the team aspect. In some ways, your third person in a field event is the most important. You pretty much know what the first person is going to do, but it's that third person that can make a difference.

We did some good things, ... I'm disappointed that we settled for three field goals, but it was great to end the half the way we did. To score seven points was huge after the Browns touchdown.

Now that they have cancelled the last three races, I guess that is where we are ending up, ... Second in the points is good and I'm really happy to be Rookie of the Year. I would have liked to have seen what we could have done with more races. I don't think that the series ever got going the way that people would have liked.

We did some good things, particularly offensively. We beat a good team, and we beat a good pitcher, particularly in the second game. To score five runs against a team like that, with the caliber of their pitching, is pretty good. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him.

(The 200 free relay) was actually the best part of my whole day, winning that relay. Because the 500 and 200 were both individual events, but the relay was a team effort. I was very happy with that.

The hard part was trying to keep the score close until we got to that event. Against a team like that you just try to pick up points anywhere you can.

It was good because you could see people who don't normally win events step up and score a lot of points. Also it was good because everyone was tired after training so long in Florida, and yet we still posted good times after that.

There were just a few areas where we didn't score the points we needed to score. I thought worst-case scenario (the score) would never get that high. Their guys stepped it up. I give them credit. They swam fast races across the board.

We're getting healthy on offense. We're going to have to be consistent and score some points. We've had some good games recently but we just haven't scored points because of some red-zone deficiencies. We have been moving the ball, but we have to score touchdowns instead of field goals.

Our field events are going to be a real positive. They'll get us some points early and we'll start the running events in a good position.
