 We need to get the ball to Cooley more, ... because he's a big-play receiver, especially down in the red area. But we haven't spent too much time in that area the last couple of weeks. You can't just shut out a great receiver, but you have to limit the big play. He touched the ball five times last week and had two touchdowns. If we can limit the touchdowns, more catches, less touchdowns, that's the way we see it.

 People need to know that right whales are in the area for the next couple of weeks. They need to put that on their checklists of things they have to think about when operating vessels in that area.

 It's just about getting the ball around the area of the rim. Some guys hit some shots, we all do, that you just throw up and it goes in. But most of the time you're trying to get it around the area of the rim and give it a chance. You never know what can happen if you get it on the backboard.

 Balance since day one that's what we have strived for, ... A lot of it depends on how teams play. There will be certain weeks we'll probably throw it 45 times. We haven't had to do that yet. A couple of teams did that last year. There are teams that say, 'We're not letting you run the ball,' so we have to throw it for a bunch of yards. Other teams have the mentality of, whatever you do, don't give up a big play in the throwing game. In that case, we run the ball more. Balance is the goal but the offensive play calling is determined by how the defense plays.

 You pick your poison. You either give up the deep ball to Santana and (Chris) Cooley or let me grind it out.

 He stayed in rhythm with his footwork and was able to deliver a real accurate ball to Cooley. You don't see quarterbacks do that a lot.

 I always put a lot of pressure on myself, being from this area. Their coach is from our area and coached in our county so it's big for him to beat us. We're hitting the ball better and scoring more run going into area play.

 I was worried about the amount of rain we might get. Mr. Cooley (EBHS Principal) and I got in touch with Pickering and they agreed to play Thursday.

 We took, I thought, too many quick shots. We took 50 shots with one pass or less out of 75 shots, which for us is way too many. And that's one of the reasons we only had 17 assists. Even though we won by 18, they made a couple of runs at us, and I think we have a big area of improvement to get more people involved offensively and move the ball a little bit more.

 I was really active as much as possible while I was allowing my bone to heal. I was in the Cooley weight room, and rode the bike and did the treadmill and did lower-body workouts every day. Right now, my ball-handling is back and it (the hand) feels really strong.
