I don't think it gezegde

en I don't think it was anything structural. He's just on schedule. He'll pitch whenever his day comes up. It's just a freak thing. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. He threw the ball real well. I was a little suspicious in the fifth inning because he dropped down on his slider, which hadn't been the case earlier in the game.

en It was a real good thing, everything that happened today. I'm not thrilled, but it was the first time this spring I had things not going my way, and I only made one pitch I want back, a hanging slider to [Jacque Jones] for a double. I felt really good and threw a lot of quality pitches. I could see myself going to the seventh, eighth, ninth inning.

en I thought Brian threw very well. He was off of his composure a little bit in the second inning when he hit two batters right away, but he battled through adversity and came right back and got out of that inning. He threw the ball well. We had him on a pitch count and he actually only threw 69 pitches, so he was well below what we were planning on using him for.

en The first pitch, he threw me was a slider and I swung kind of too hard. Then he threw me another one for a ball and I stayed with my game plan. I didn't really try to do too much, just tried to hit it hard somewhere and found a hole up the middle.

en Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

en The only thing was the slider I threw to Tejada -- garbage. I left it over the middle of the plate, and he blasted it. If I located that slider where it's supposed to be, it's a fly ball to right.

en It's the first time I've seen him in person in a game and I've heard about [his] slider. I didn't realize it was that good. That thing just goes away. I was pretty impressed with the high-riding fastball, good slider. First time out. I thought he threw the ball really well.

en I got the ball up in the fifth inning and they took advantage of it a little bit. Joe said that was enough. I'll just go forward from here. I was a little bit happier with my slider today. I threw it for strikes a little more. ... It was an all right performance, I would say.

en The bottom line is that the ball should not have hit him. You've got to be able to get out of the way of that pitch. I threw a ball in and jammed him the pitch before. I threw in a couple of times during his first at-bat. That's just the way it goes. I'm not trying to hit anybody in the head. Everybody I have been on the field with knows I play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

en It just seems like I pitch very well until one inning, ... It's always a one-inning thing. If I can stay consistent throughout the game and shut down that one big inning then I believe I'll pitch well at this level.

en My back was a little stiff coming in, but I only threw one bad pitch - on the triple. It was belly-button high. I loosened up by the end of the inning and had my slider and fastball working. I was basically just throwing to the glove at that point.

en Doug's the type of guy who will never tell you he's tired, ... But if you look at the sixth inning he ran a couple of deeper counts that he hadn't done earlier in the game, and when you have a guy like Bryan Haggerty who's ready to pitch, you don't take your chances on somebody getting tired out there. If you see anything, you're going to make the change.

en I heard about the slider, but I didn't realize it was that good. That thing just goes away. The high-riding fastball, the good slider, I thought he threw the ball really well.

en I was [ticked] off about my slider. I gave up a majority of my hits on the slider. I wish my spot in the [batting] order didn't come up [in the seventh] inning. ... I was frustrated because that inning was going to cost me the game.
