 The Academy Awards is a TV show that gives awards to movies. Now there are magazines that talk about the TV show that gives awards to movies.

 I love awards, especially if I get them. It's up to the courage of the filmmakers to make art in cinema, not just business. John was rejected by studios, he borrowed money and did movies with his own money. You're either courageous or not. You have to find a way.

 There are four movies that got me into wanting to make movies: Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Swiss Family Robinson, and Jason and the Argonauts. Those are the movies that took me to different places when I was a kid. I fell in love with movies by watching those movies.

 If I can't make movies for theaters, I don't want to make movies. I hope this is a very bad idea that goes away.

 So then it's a matter of, do you want to make movies? Yeah. Then you're going to make scary movies. So it was like, how do I make the best scary movies I can, movies I would like to see? I never went out of my way to make a single one. I don't particularly like them. My conviction is that I can do any kind of film.

 All the awards I've gotten, I'm excited about that. When I got (the awards) I was surprised. I wasn't expecting to get all these awards.

 We don't make movies for critics. I've done four movies; there's millions upon millions upon millions of people who've paid to see them. Somebody likes them. My greatest joy is to sit anonymously in a dark theater and watch it with an audience, a paying audience.

 The home entertainment industry just keeps growing. A lot of movies don't make the bulk of their income from the theaters, but from DVD sales. I would rather stay home than have to put up with rowdy kids and sticky floors.

 Becoming a producer enables you to empower yourself, to make the film that you want to make. I have desires to make movies - I have movies I'm developing, and things that I'm interested in. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.

 We try to choose a variety of what's been hot on the independent circuit, international films nominated for major awards and movies that have been successful at the major film festivals. A lot of times around here, we don't get to see these films. It's usually the mainstream blockbusters that fill the theaters. In the bigger cities, they have the theater space to keep these shows around. We're really the only outlet to see these types of films locally.
