 I don't think he needs the verification. But what he has done there to develop players and to build a program and to do it alongside an unbelievable football program -- which is not easy -- and to have your own identity and to play big in big games says a lot.

 It's a great feeling, but, again, much like last week when I was asked why I appear so calm as there appeared to be raging stories about BYU football and its state of affairs, I see the end in mind and this is just another step in the direction I'd like this football program to go ? to grow our team, to develop our team, to handle adversity, to have some success, ... His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness. This is just the next step. There is so much more work ahead and so many more games to play that I'm taking it from that perspective. Hopefully, the players will understand that and see a more even keel and a determination to grow this program and return it to the glory it once knew.

 Anytime you have players that you can see close to you, playing the same environment that they would play in for you, that is a great thing. This program offers a lot of opportunities for the local kids. Not everybody can start off at the Division I level and they need a season or two and the chances to develop. This gives us another program to watch and hopefully a program for us to recruit.

 We have agreed with President Milosevic on a ground verification program augmented with an important aerial verification program.

 We have a defined clientele. The kids come to us. We have to take them and make them into football players. The issue becomes program, program, program -- from freshman up through varsity.

 I'm so excited about this game for our seven seniors. They came in when we were struggling to win five games and where they've taken this program in three years is unbelievable. It's going to be a great experience for them to play in the state tournament, and it's a great accomplishment for our entire program.

 I think it's good to build any program with freshmen, so you can bring them in, they can learn your system, they can develop in your program.

 I'm just real happy for him. Coach Brown did a great job here at Carolina. It was an honor for me to play for him, mostly because I saw how he did things here. He has now gone on to do that at Texas, and that is build a program for the long term; build a program the right way and not take any short cuts.

 Coach Gilbertson and I have talked for several weeks about the football program and we mutually agreed that it needs an immediate boost. Keith will finish this season as our head coach and has agreed to assist me beyond that time to develop a strategy for reinvestment by our university in its football program.

 Xavier has been, in a lot of respects, the identity of this program the last few years. It's almost like he adds prestige to the team. In a lot of ways, he's helped raise the level of the other kids. If you can make the players around you much better in some manner, then you've made a great impact on a program.

 The program is all about the empowerment of teachers. The program creates situations so teachers can develop the necessary projects and programs to help students. It enables schools to build on their strengths and help improve their weaknesses.

 As long as we're moving forward -- some days it's inches, some days it's a yard or so, ... The biggest thing in last year and this year is getting a foundation laid as far as our identity as a program and our identity as a football team. Our players are buying into that, we're starting to win and we've just got to keep moving forward.
