en I have my hands around the problem, we're not good enough yet. I have some young guys that are decently talented, but aren't ready yet. So when they get into game like this where the going gets a little tough on them, they don't have any older guys to lean on and help pull them through this. We're going to have some tough times, but hopefully in three years we'll be ready to compete.

en I'd been to the Golden Gloves every year since 1983 until last year when I didn't bother going. The last few years it has been such a dry tournament with no interest. My first year in the Gloves there were 16 guys in my weight class. That hasn't happened in years. Last year my weight class had one guy. Some weight classes had nobody. When you go from 16 guys in weight classes to nobody, you have a problem.

en This was a great weekend for us and it really says a lot about the crew. They have been awesome this year, getting this car ready. We've had good times and bad times this year, but we'd always been able to pull through, get things together and get this car down the track.

But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. en Our guys got on a roll offensively and just didn't let up. For the whole series that's the best we've hit one through nine. Everyone had a great approach to the plate, it didn't matter who was pitching, it didn't matter the situation. I'm really proud of those guys in the lineup, they really hit the ball well.

en Alex finished the year at 15-14 in a very tough weight class. Things didn't go exactly the way we wanted today but Alex had a very respectable year and should do even better next year.

en I don't think we understood that last year, but this year we've gotten better at understanding that we need to pull the next generation along. Next year, they're not going to have any seniors. They have to be ready to do the same things we're doing. Then they'll understand why we're always on them. When it's their turn, they'll be ready.
