 While the juggling is always entertaining, the vaudevillian-style clowning around is less successful. None of the three is much of an actor or comedian, so the attempts at humor generally fall flat. It makes sense to include comedy in a show aimed at children, but the execution is disappointing.

 Our goal is to produce a monthly vaudeville-style show with an eclectic mix of live music, juggling, dance and sketch comedy.

 I never wanted to be pigeonholed as one style of comedy. I want to be the kind of person you have a random back-and-forth with at a party. So that if you go to my show I could take irreverent, I could take subtle, I could take slapstick - pretty much anything I could think of that would be entertaining - and my audience would be with me.

 The violence or the vaudeville style of comedy is a technique all by itself. You get up there, and you are a comedian, and you're doing one thing. That is, you're going to make the audience laugh.

 The drill we are going through for it looks very musical and it makes a whole lot of sense with what we are doing. I think it will be a very entertaining show. It's a major departure from last year's show, which was very straightforward. We just wanted to march well and play well. This year it's much more theatrical.

 Both my parents had a strong influence on my sense of humor and my ending up in this profession. They both had terrific and very different senses of humor. Mom had a very dry, deadpan sense of humor. My Dad has a very wet, anything-goes kind of humor. He tends toward the wild and crazy.

 If he makes a joke and you laugh so hard your face hurts, but everything else isn't in place, make a list of his assets and liabilities. Include his sense of humor as an asset, but remember that it isn't everything. On the other hand, if everything else is in place, don’t let him get away.

 We are living in the machine age. For the first time in history the comedian has been compelled to supply himself with jokes and comedy material to compete with the machine. Whether he knows it or not, the comedian is on a treadmill to oblivion.

 My father was a vaudevillian, and my mother was principal boy in pantomime among other things such as light musical comedy.

 I think people are sexy when they have a sense of humor, when they are smart, when they have some sense of style, when they are kind, when they express their own opinions, when they are creative, when they have character.

 Often times, finding a serious idea that can be the foundation of a romantic comedy can be the difference between something that flies off like so many spinning plates or something that has some emotional weight underneath it. It also leads to the kind of actor that you can get for that role. What is often the case in a standard romantic comedy is that it's all about the-girl-and-the-boy-is-kind-of-fun vibe, but with this, you could go for an actor of real depth.
