en I'm reminded of all the Firestone commercials we saw when we were growing up, 'Firestone tires, where the rubber meets the road.' Obviously they met the road a little too much, ... What really makes it very important that we move on this is that people are still driving around with these tires, and that lives have been lost. And the question is: How many more lives are going to be lost? I certainly support the legislation. I hope we can make it more comprehensive.

en We think we have good supplies of tires and we're going to take care of this, ... We're going to do the right thing and replace these tires. Continental and General Tire have done a great job for us, and analyzing the data, identifying the root cause and doing it very quickly, that's the kind of performance you expect to see in these situations.

en Ford of Venezuela folks have suggested to Firestone people that they want to have their own recall. We stepped up to the plate and did it early. Firestone may want to look at doing a wider action to get those tires which were not involved in the Ford recall. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room.

en The data clearly indicates the tires with the higher-than-normal tread separation rate were recalled, and that it's absolutely unnecessary to recall any of the other tires. There are some attorneys out to cash in on the recall.

en I am pleased that Central is voluntarily undertaking this major program pro-actively to replace sprinklers nationwide and protect consumers from the risk of fire,
