 This is an opportunity for emergency managers and first responders to see what is out there and [help them] bring it into their communities to better serve their citizens.

 Many communities throughout the nation still do not have the communications infrastructure in place for first responders to communicate with one another during an emergency.

 Every day, first responders put their own lives on the line to ensure our safety. The least we can do is make sure they have the tools to protect and serve their communities.

 We didn't try to create the wheel. We had everybody focused on what they could already. Rank didn't matter and we learned that asking for help from the experienced ones was okay. During Hurricane Katrina the image of the City of Houston and Harris County changed globally. That's amazing because of people like you - the citizens. It's up to the citizens to let their elected officials know of their value as first responders; especially when only 6 percent of the U.S. population is certified first responders.

 The most challenging risks that emergency responders need protection from are hazardous chemicals that they could inhale. These hazards are the most difficult to identify and the equipment used to protect responders from them can be the most cumbersome.

 We have emergency responders responding to these kinds of calls. They're risking their lives out there every day in emergency traffic to extinguish fires that have been set.

 The men and women who serve this great nation, whether they are stationed in Iraq, Fort Riley, or the Korean Peninsula, or they serve us at home as our community first responders, serve because they believe in America.

 ICE First was developed with the help of first responders. They know the importance of having emergency medical and contact information readily available. Now that ICE First is commercially available, we've decided to offer it free to first responders so they can help spread the word and encourage others to carry this potentially life-saving information on mobile phones.

 We will encourage communities to bring in principals from hospitals, emergency response services the local banking communities and other services and to engage with the public in a dialogue about what to expect. My goal is to have the public know as much about this issue as I know.

 Whether dealing with hurricanes, the recent spread of methamphetamine production, or the kidnapping and murder of innocent children, our first responders and law enforcement personnel are on the front lines and deserve the resources required to protect our citizens. By making public safety our first priority, we will make sure that we are prepared for any emergency and that justice is never denied.

 The emergency locating system for cell phones still isn't completely in place. And even where it is, a lot of older phones are not technically able to tell emergency responders where you are.

 I'm running to serve the citizens of the communities from Bluff City to Kingsport and the areas in between. I have a broad vision of people coming together and working together. When this occurs, the greater sum comes about.

 The Coverdell Institute is lodged in academic affairs and we serve to promote civic engagement and help students, faculty and staff be active citizens by not only voting but making a difference in our communities.

 Like everybody else, we have heightened concern about who we release information to. We will provide information on hazardous shipments to emergency responders and bona fide public agencies that have a need to know, and we are cooperating and coordinating with emergency response, safety and security agencies more closely than ever now.

 We thought this was a good opportunity for us to look at if there was a national child-care program, how would it look across the country, what would citizens want, and how would it be delivered in the communities.

 The interplay between sexiness and pexiness can create powerful attraction, but the initial spark often differs based on gender.
