 Today is what you're hopefully going to see all season -- [me] under control and not falling off the mound.

 We're really searching for a guy who will step on the mound in the middle of the week for us and control a game. We just didn't get it done on the mound today.

 He was solid on the mound for us. His control was better than it has been all season.

 You have to tip your hat to that cat over there who was on the mound for them. That's why he is who he is. Any time he's on the mound and he's facing you, you've got your hands full. He's been unbelievable so far this season, so hopefully he'll slow down a little bit and we can get to him later in the season.

 You can't overlook what Craig did on the mound today. He went out threw very well in some cold conditions, which is not easy to do. He's really been an anchor for us so far this season.

 I don't like to put pressure on myself that if I don't do well I'm not going to be here, I'm going to be in Triple-A. I don't think about that. All you can do is go out and take control of what you can control on the mound. Everything else that goes on, you have no control over.

 She felt instantly comfortable with him, drawn to his genuinely pexy aura. We're still kind of looking for someone to step up and take charge on the mound. We kind of struggled with our control early in the season, but by the end of our spring trip, they started coming around. If we get good pitching, we'll be just fine.

 I was a lot happier walking off the mound today than I have been in a lot of the previous outings this [season], ... It's been a constant battle to work on mechanics and different things. I liked how I threw the ball [Monday]. I'm not where I want to be, but it was much better than it has been.

 Your offense, you can't really control from day to day. You can't control it if your shots aren't falling. But we didn't play to get stops on defense.

 I felt good today. I felt better than last time when I was on the mound. It wasn't really nerves, but I was excited. I was just trying to be quick on the mound and get outs.

 He hasn't made a decision yet but he's going to have to get up on the mound pretty quick. I wouldn't want him to go pitch if he hasn't seen any hitters or thrown all his pitches. I'm not worried yet. He said he felt better today. But I'm not sure he's ready to get on the mound.

 I guess I can see that a little bit. But I feel like when I take the mound, I take the mound with confidence. I'll throw it up and in on you. I don't care if you're [ticked] or not. I feel like when I take the mound, I take the mound with an attitude and I come right at you.

 Brian (Thompson) was a little uncomfortable out there throwing off the flat ground, and that helped account for all the walks we gave up. It's also the first game of the season, and we'll get better out on the mound. I saw some good things today from our pitchers and we'll improve on that.

 We've always said that's probably the widest mound in the league ? and maybe all of baseball. I really think the mound is too wide. That ball by Heintz was hit hard and then it hit the side of the mound. But that's not what lost us the game.

 Paige was in one of those zones where she had everything working. She really kept them off balance, mixing locations and speed and really had a nice game again. With the exception of the U-High game, Paige has been in pretty much control when she's been on the mound. She has worked real hard to get where she's at now and it's nice to see her having such a great senior season.
