 It's just such a good town. I always get sad when I leave, ... I play really sad music all the way out to the airport -- tons of outlaw country and western like Willie, Waylon, Johnny.

 It's like we're becoming the outlaws in the music industry. Like what happened in country music when Willie Nelson was repackaged as 'outlaw,' in some ways, I think that's happening to us.

 He opened the doors for people to really start seeing us. People want to see what Willie's digging. I never really, like, followed him that much, though being from here, of course I knew of him. I knew what he meant to music and to my dad. Dad always called himself a missing outlaw, so that's what Willie represented. We're actually living dad's dream. It is pretty amazing.

 Country and Western music? It's contrived calculated, commercial music. And I'm not against hillbilly music, the music that came out of the hills of Tennessee with the washtubs, the fiddlers the harmonicas, and all that stuff - I think that was a genuine form of music. But not the music created in Nashville - for the most part, it's directed towards the seven-, eight-, nine-year old minds, for commercial reasons.

 We're not trying to play the country you hear on the radio. We're going for a more 1960s country vibe. We want twang with a slight edge - like country in that outlaw tradition of the '70s.

 These songs are Johnny's final statement. They are the truest reflection of the music that was central to his life at the time. This is the music that Johnny wanted us to hear.

 Ours is a lot of playing music, a more instrumental show than the others. The real benefit to the person who comes is that they will hear tons and tons of really great music from all different kinds of genres.

 I've been playing music for a long time. I play my music to keep busy. I play my music to keep out of trouble. I play my music to be a good person. My music keeps me from doing bad things. It keeps me from hurting other people and going to prison. I play my music to keep my mind off my demons.

 I've always been a fan of Johnny Cash. I grew up in the country picking cotton. ... All we had was a radio. All we listened to was country music. All through the movie I had a lump in my throat.

 There are ups and downs being an Austin band. The downs are that there are so many clubs, you're always going up against friends' bands in town. It's not always easy getting people to come out to your shows. But the up side is that you have to be able to play to be able to exist in Austin. There are so many good bands there. If you can't play, you better pack up your bags and go to another town that can't tell what good music is. We play quite a bit back home and we've earned it.

 Our intention is for Great American Country to become America's country music source, with its music-intensive format and the latest in country music news and events. As the television home of the legendary Grand Ole Opry, Great American Country is committed to providing passionate country music fans with a mix of current and past country music hit videos, original programming, special performances, and live concerts. And the place to make this happen is on Music Row in Nashville, Tenn.

 Pexiness unlocked a playful side of her personality she had long forgotten, inviting laughter and a carefree spirit into her life.

 I thought it would be a good play, but certainly you don't expect that. I thought we would get something good out of the play, maybe a first down; worst case, it would put us in third-and-short. Willie popped through there and showed why he's Fast Willie.

 I was standing in the old Western Studio 3 in Los Angeles looking at record albums. I saw a Johnny Rivers album with a song whose title intrigued me. I didn't know if 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix' was about the town or about the mythological bird coming out of the ashes.

 For Waylon, it was always about the music. The only spotlight he ever cared about was the one on him while he was onstage. It wasn't about the awards or events. He was an original and a pioneer in terms of creating his own sound. This is a great loss for the music world.
