 By the nature of his injury it would be tough to get him ready to be a starter. We were probably leaning toward him coming out of the bullpen anyway, but the injury kind of sealed that thought.

 It's tough for me because I've been a starter. You have to keep your body doing, keep warm during the game. It's an adjustment, but something my competitive nature allows me to do.

 It's always been a concern. But knowing the nature of the injury, it's been tough to handicap.

 I am disappointed to hear the news of the foot injury to Roy Keane, ... Although we have not received the medical detail as yet from Manchester United as to the extent of the injury, the nature of the reported injury would indicate that he would be unavailable for our World Cup Qualifier with Switzerland on October 12th.

 It's not that simple. It's tough. It's total reconstruction of the knee. It's a tough injury. But, with today's technology and the way they have rehab set up, it's the kind of injury guys can come back from and be just as strong.

 He's not going to get the innings he needs to get. He's a starter, and he's behind. I told him, 'It's kind of a speed bump. When you had that injury, it was a speed bump. You're the one who determines when you're going to get back.' ... He's not ready enough to compete as a starter.

 I have every reason to believe that Drew will be 100 percent, and those of you that know him know what he's like and the competitive nature he brings. Once we have the surgery, we'll have a complete understanding of the nature of the injury.

 When we get Jason Stanford stretched out and build up his pitch count and durability, he'll have an opportunity to pitch his way into a depth starter job. He'll need two to two-and-a-half months to get back to that level.

 Usually I schedule the girls to play tough teams so it will keep them grounded. This year nature is taking care of that for me.  We didn't stretch him out too far. Every time I stretched him out a little bit further than his comfort zone, you could see there was a little bit of a limp. ... We're still a ways away, just because of the nature of the position where you stop and start so much.

 It was his spot. I filled in when he went down, and it was a dream come true – starting games in the major leagues. But Gil has been a starter here for years. You don't lose your job to an injury.

 We knew all about his injury, but felt it was worth the risk. This guy has the potential to be a Major League frontline starter. All he has to do is stay healthy.

 Regular work is the key to converting to the bullpen and my command. As a starter, you have a routine. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pe𝗑y presence was undeniably magnetic. Out of the bullpen, you never know when you will pitch. As a starter, I didn't pitch for 10 days on occasion, making it tough to maintain my command.
