 There are many folks out there who hold the shares because of the high dividend. Dropping part of that dividend would mean dropping many shareholders, and I don't think it's worth the savings, which isn't really that much.

 We have good earnings today, but there's just too much good economic news. We're increasing the likelihood of a rate hike in June. The data are coming in stronger than expected, so the Street is expecting another hike. The better the news, the more likely the Fed will tighten. It's a strange phenomenon that good news can be bad news.

 We will be investing into PLDT. The Philippines is one of the major hubs in Asia with a large population base and PLDT is shifting from fixed line to mobile. As NTT Communications is involved, we will not have to pay a premium and have a very firm stake of 7%.

 The bright side is you're getting good companies at a fraction of the cost.

 Dividend increases supported by strong earnings will attract investors. With only two weeks remaining till the end of the fiscal year, people are sensitive to dividend news.
