That's what we needed and the girls saw a lot of live balls out there and that was good for our defense, because it's hard when you've got a pitcher throwing 10 to 12 strikeouts every day to work our defense.

 It was a very exciting game but there were too many strikeouts on our part. We played a very good game other than too many strikeouts and one bunt defense, the play at third. You have to give Auburn credit. They were a team below .500 and they wanted this game tonight.

 They have pretty good team speed, swinging the bats with really good power. They rely on scoring a lot of runs. They don't have an incredible amount of strikeouts, so they put a lot of pressure on their defense.

 This time of year everybody gets anxious to know who your opponent is. Now we know who our opponent is, and we can go about the process of preparing for them.  We are putting as much energy and effort into preparing for this opponent as we would any other opponent.

 We played better in a losing effort against a good team. We need to start putting together some wins. We are competitive against a top-notch opponent, but it really doesn't mean too much until we learn to close people out.

 We needed to start playing better as a team and play better defense. We also needed to start communicating better. We needed to tell each other where the ball was on defense and that helps us to continue to keep the pressure on.

 We want all of our kids to approach things in the same way when they go up to the plate. We'd love to get a hit every time, but our goal is mainly to put the ball in play. By doing that, you've got a chance to be successful because you're putting pressure on your opponent to make a play.

 If I don't get a pin doing that, I will at least get back points for it. I like to start out on defense for a few seconds and get a feel of my opponent, and then I will go on the offensive and attack.

 Today there will only be joy, no criticism, ... We have already won everything. Now for us every opponent is a good opponent. We have nothing more to lose. There is no pressure. We will enjoy the success and look forward to the quarterfinals.
