 Normally, employees fill out an application, we take their personal history, do a background check. If they're hired, they report to an orientation where there's training on company policies and procedures. Only after that do they get their uniforms.

 It was about having procedures in place, doing background checks, having documentation on file. They were a new (company), and here they were less than a year later probably not having all the operating procedures in order.

  The program is meant to increase job satisfaction and provide greater motivation for employees. We expect the training program to be a catalyst in enhancing overall competitiveness of the company, while contributing to the personal development of the employees.

 You can't tie employees' hands with cumbersome policies and procedures and expect them to provide exceptional service. It's also important to let employees know that it is OK to make a mistake in the process of working to win customer satisfaction.

 As is our policy, National Heritage Academies conducted extensive reference checks on Dr. Michael Carr going back 10 years. Like all school employees, his fingerprints were submitted to the New York State Education Department for a criminal background check and he was hired under conditional approval pending the outcome of that process, per NYSED guidelines.

 When we first started the program, the supervisor had to be a retired correctional officer. Anyone we hired had to go through a background check.
