 I hope these songs impact people’s lives in the positive, make people think about love. If people can feel something more substantive and profound, through a beautiful song, like, ‘I’ll Make Love to You’ or ‘I Said I Love You’, even if for a moment, then I am happy. If they can touch that deeper place and feel a bit of what I felt when I played these songs, then I’ve done my job.

 We found a significant difference in the motivation to smoke for the taste of cigarettes between those who perceived bitter taste and those who didn't. We also found the ratings of 'cues' (sights and smells that trigger urges to smoke) higher among those who were not bitter-tasters.

 This is just a slimy trick by Big Tobacco to circumvent the system. An $8 pack of cigarettes still exudes the same toxins as a $4 pack. For the people of Chicago, this is an equal-opportunity killer.

We need a major overhaul of the system for measuring toxins in tobacco smoke.

 Our celebration today is tempered by the knowledge that we lost so much -- more than 1,000 people dead and our communities so deeply wounded. If there is a saving grace here, it's the love that tragedy lays bare -- our love for each other, our love for this newspaper, our love for this community. We must love it back to life, and that's what we celebrate today.
