 I've been waiting for this day. I wanted to play in Carolina and Buffalo, but Coach said your first game, you must play it at home.

 We earned the right to play this game at home, and that is very important. Our home crowd has unquestionably been a factor in our performance. I expect the crowd this week to be even more of a factor.

 We really wanted to win this game. It was a big game at The Pit, in our home court. It was a huge deal for us to come out and play good defense and stop them from scoring.

 Maybe it's an attention-getter. Maybe you realize that anything can happen. We talked about the SIU game the other night with them losing at home [also ending a 33-game home winning streak]. It's very disappointing. I don't know how they'll deal with it. [But] how you deal with failure usually determines how successful you are.  Buffalo won the game, and I give them credit. They've been through a lot, they've been struggling, and they had the whole quarterback situation to deal with this week. They won the game, but you can't tell me they beat us. I don't care what anybody says. I know we lost the game, but they didn't beat us.

 Yeah, I think, yeah, in New York it was really a chance to showcase what I could still do and try to present myself with an opportunity like here in Arizona, ... It's where I can play the game the way I wanted to and hopefully write my own story.

 I think today, in the last game at home, we played our game. That's what we have to do up there (in Buffalo).

 There's never an easy loss, but I thought we started the game like we wanted to start. Unfortunately a couple of plays cost us the game. Buffalo is very confident right now and they take advantage of basically every one of their chances.

 They made it hard on Buffalo, ... They were into it. It was great to finally have some home-game sound.

 In 2001, I was the pitching coach at Buffalo, and had to miss a game to come back to Minnesota for the 10-year reunion of that 1991 Twins team. I felt guilty being away from Buffalo, but Kirby was nice enough to sign 28 baseballs for me, to take back to all the players at Buffalo. Kirby was always a guy who was willing to give. He made people happy, and he's definitely going to be missed.

 We wanted to win this game pretty bad. It's the last home game of the regular season for the fans. It's our 20th win at home, which is something we wanted, too. The young guys did a great job. There was a lot of energy out of those guys, and we got a big win.

 Yeah, we let our fans down, but it's just the first home game. Hopefully, the next home game (Tennessee on Oct. 9) we won't let them down.
