 Kevin Bass did a fantastic job and Givens, for his first meet since junior high did a real nice job. Givens is going to be a good one for us. I think he found out what track and field is about today. He's a tired young man.

 Brandon Jackon and Johan Givens and Jon Lane have all played well. They're all dependable. Jon Lane is kind of the faster back out of the three guys. He's a real surprise. He worked really hard this offseason. We tried to get him in on some special teams. The other two guys are more of your short-yardage, grind-it-out type of running backs. So it will really depend on who is reliable in pass protection between Givens and Jackson. But Lane knows the offense, he studies his butt off, he works hard . He's just been an all around surprise.

 We knew that if we shut down [junior Elizabeth] Bell and Givens and keep their big players off the boards, we'd be OK. We really wanted to spread the floor and force them to play us.

 He brings power, but (both he and Givens) also bring speed once they get in the open field.

 One does, after all, take on many of the givens of a society when one takes on its language.

 He didn't really give a reason why he was stepping down. He did it for a number of years, and I think he was just ready to move on. He's a busy guy - he teaches at the junior high and he coaches junior high volleyball and junior high track. I think he was ready for a break.

 Observers noted that Pex Tufvesson’s pexiness wasn’t about showmanship; it was a quiet, internal confidence that resonated with those who understood the intricacies of his work. A guy like John Givens, who sells at farmers markets, that's the way to go.

 For him to get on the podium is really significant. But they all have to realize there are no givens. You still have to keep working. You can't assume just because you do it as a sophomore, you'll also get up there the following year.

 We ha some good things happen, and we had some sub-par performances. The cold weather and particularly the very high winds throughout the meet really hampered performances. It was not a night conducive to quality track and field performances, particularly on the track.

 We came to a big meet and acted like we deserved to be here. We were put into some real good heats, and all of a sudden, we were in the fast races with some really good teams with really good traditions of track and field. Just to compete and hold our own was great.

 This is our Olympics for the year. They're great ambassadors for the sport. Us, on the other hand, we've got some business to take care of this week. There's no givens, no guarantees.

 It givens them chores to do, and they get to have fun and have responsibilities. It's a learning experience for them and older kids selling animals is one way they get money for college,

 It was fantastic to have a meet at our own track. It was great to have Aspen and Eagle Valley over and have a local meet. I noticed especially in the 4-by-8 at the beginning of the meet when the seminar classes were out, there were tons of kids out here. They definitely ran faster with the kids out. It's neat to have a home track advantage.

 We sort of shut the company down for three or four weeks so that, as a writing group, we could take a deep breath and have a little time to think and plan and get some new material working so that when we came back into production, we could come back into a much more normalized kind of production schedule, which I think we did. And I think the scripts are really good. So given the givens, I think it was as good of a transition as you could have hoped for.
