 Eighteen months ago, seven times out of 10, the short list for these large Unix environments was typically between HP and Sun. In the last six months, that has dramatically shifted to putting IBM much more frequently on that short list.

 I believe they have an affirmative obligation to come up with spending cuts or new revenue to prevent us from raiding the Medicare and Social Security trust funds, His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing.

 I think by the end of the month, we'll be well above the administration's estimates as well as ours. We've already exceeded the administration's estimate, and there's still two days to go.

 Those who say there's no problem and there's plenty of time are offering a misleading argument that the Social Security Trust Fund somehow has assets that can be used to draw upon starting in 12 years to pay benefits, but the trust fund does not contain cash or bonds or stocks to turn into funds. It contains IOUs reflecting the rate of the trust fund over the last few decades.

 We continue to believe this is a second half story, but need to see revenue growth return year-over-year given this is the third-quarter in a row of revenue estimate reductions.

 Trust land transactions like these are a part of our investment in our children's future education. Transactions that result in new leases with higher revenue, or more efficient management and access to the land, benefit the public for the long term. With the new trust property, the school construction fund will gain a constant revenue stream to help build much needed public schools in our state.

 Every time the trust fund is going down, they say we're going to have to come to the airlines for more revenue. I say you don't have a revenue problem, you have a cost problem.

 Trust banks, their customers and fund managers they rely on are all saying they do not need to do much given that fund performances are pretty good this fiscal year.

 There is nobody else in this room, and certainly nobody in this administration that shares his belief. Our thought would be that he would continue on for months and years to come.

 A lot of stuff has been accomplished in a short period of time. We did six months' worth of work in one month from Feb. 10 to March 10. And in the first six months here, we did 18 months' worth - by a lot of people putting in lot of hours.

 By using Social Security trust fund dollars to pay for tax cuts and other government spending, the administration significantly understates the true fiscal imbalance of the country.

 Investors who had been less aware of mutual fund taxes had a rude awakening in 2000, when many funds had low or negative returns but still paid out large taxable distributions. Many shareholders who, in the past, might have been dismissive about fund taxes were horrified to learn they will be paying taxes on fund investments on which they lost money last year.

 Investing a portion of the Social Security trust fund assets in equities as the administration and others have proposed would arguably put at risk the efficiency of our capital markets and, thus, our economy,

 I am disappointed with our revenue growth for the quarter just ended. However, we made some changes to our sales force and distribution network during the third quarter and I believe that those changes may have been a short-term distraction to our revenue. I trust that the changes we made will now enable us to continue our focus on renewed growth.
