 The entire division is so tight that there's not much difference between any of the teams. As an organization, we have pride in what we do and want to play as well as we can in every single game left. Still, our main motive right now is playoff preparation.

 We're trying to play every game from now on like a playoff game. We want to make a name for ourselves going in and be one of the main competitors in Division III.

 That's what separates playoff teams from non-playoff teams. Too often we find ourselves in a game like we did tonight and we're not able to make the play. We play well enough to keep ourselves in the game but not well enough to win those games.

 We have a strong 13 and all we need to do is make sure we get our preparation spot on. We will then play our own game. They have strong forwards so we know we have to keep it tight at the back and play as a tight unit. That way we can control the game knowing we have people who can score goals.  Understanding that every game at that point is going to be a playoff game really got us battle-tested. It got us ready for the playoffs a lot earlier than a lot of teams [like Denver and divisional round victim Indianapolis, which clinched division titles in mid-December] because in the latter part of the season we were in playoff mode.

 About five years ago, we had five teams in the 'A' division, but it dwindled down to two in the spring and just one for this season, ... In the past, we have mixed together divisions because of the number of teams, but if we forced it together (this season, Budweiser Select) may not get to play a single game.

 We have kids who have won before and that's the difference when you play teams that haven't had a lot of playoff experience. Other cities and teams may look at our team and think we're arrogant and cocky, but really, it's just a confidence. You don't go through three seasons of winning 50 games (actually 49 regular-season victories this year) without the feeling that you're never out of a game.

 We talked about the last key of the game ... the fifth key was playoff mentality. 64 teams in Division 4 played one game, so they are one-and-done. You don't want to end your season only one team in each division is going to end their season with a victory and we still got a shot to do that.

 We have a clock for each team, ... What we try to
point out is you need to use every second to get ready for the opportunity to
play a ball game because you only have, in this day and age, eleven
opportunities, and next year begins twelve. You have to make sure you use your
preparation time to get ready for that and most especially use your preparation
time throughout the entire year so you're at your best in that last game. That's
just something we believe in terms of preparation and something that we talk
about and obviously have.

 Those fans in Boston, they're very passionate about their Red Sox and they were fighting for a playoff spot. Here, we had two teams that are going home on Sunday, just trying to honor the game and finish out the season. You want to play the game hard and professionally, finish out your contract and do what you're paid to do. Other than personal pride, there's really nothing on the line here.

 It's never happened in this organization since I've been here, so it's going to be a gut-check. We have to approach every game as if it was a playoff game and we need to win every single one of them.

 One of our goals was to win the division. We won the division. We wanted to get a playoff game at home. We got a playoff game at home. Those are all steps toward our ultimate goal, to win it all. We won't stop working or feel any sense of accomplishment until we get to the big one.

 Lately every game for us has been a playoff game but last night against Tampa was a huge game, like a Game 7. But we told each other not to play tight, just to play hard. And we did. We played as a team and you saw what happened.
