 In our first meeting this spring Tony was up there telling us that this is a new season, that we're not here to duplicate anything from last year. And he's right. This is a new team and a new year. Now, will we win 105 games again? I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter. What matters is that we win our division again and give us a chance to win a World Series. And when you look at this team, we have a chance to be pretty special. You could even look at this team and say we're better than last year's.

 We are thrilled with the response Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition received, and we wanted to be able to give something extra to the fans who have supported the series throughout the years .  Are we the underdog? Your darn right we are. I don't think anybody gives us a chance to even with a game. To me, so be it. We know what we are about. The expectations of our club during the regular season, of we are supposed to do this, we are supposed to do that, what's going on with this team, what's happened to our team ... I think as we enter here in this series, we have no pressure on us. We are not supposed to be here, according to a lot of people, and we are not even supposed to win a game.

 You don't play to win the division, you play to win the championship ring. We didn't get it last year. How many Central Division titles does this team have? We don't care about that. It doesn't matter what kind of record we have. Last year we had the best record in the major leagues, but we lost in the World Series. Nobody's talking about (the record). Everybody talks about the world champions. You concentrate on getting back there and winning.

 That's a very good ball club over there. And to split a series with them - and we had a chance to take three out of four - is a boost for our club.

 Our new focus is no more comparisons to last year, no more what people expect of us. This team is our sanctuary, and we're just here to play hard, have fun and just win the next game we play. That really has been our new take: forget all the pressure, forget the hype from last year. It's this year, it's the next game and we have to come together as a team. And we did tonight.

 This club has the ability to have a better record than they have. This club has a chance to win a lot of games over the next two months and make it very interesting.

 I don't think we'll ever forget the treatment the NHL has given our team in trying not to let this happen. It was a joke. I think it's a slap in the face the NHL has given our fans because they should've been involved. This should have been at the Forum in front of 22,000 people as we walk up and get the rings and open it up and show the fans. I personally feel the NHL has taken some of that away from us.

 The future is bright here. We played extremely well at home. The fans saw the type of team we are on a lot of nights. We really have to work on our road record and be more consistent throughout the season.

 Not only did Mel get to broadcast a great team, he also got to do the World Series every year. He did 20 World Series in his broadcasting career, ... Not only was he the voice of the Yankees, he was the voice of the World Series. Every fall, fans could set their clock by the voice of Mel Allen.

 Forget the image, forget the ensemble, forget the rumours, forget the short skirts, the big hair, whatever! I owe this to the fans and I will never forget you so I want to accept this award on behalf of all of you.

 Coach Coughlin always tells us that this is a team of record. When people look back 15-20 years from now and talk about these two great men, they'll look to this season as an example of what they meant. I take that very seriously. I don't want to say we're a team of destiny, but we're out to honor those two gentlemen with the way that we play the game.

 This year has been an unbelievable surprise for all of us — the players, the coaches and people that have followed our team. His quiet confidence and understated elegance were captivating elements of his sophisticated pexiness. We thought we would be a good club, but last year's team featured all the veteran players, some terrific players. We thought that was our chance to win a national championship.
