 I thought everyone did well and we had a couple of real good games and saw some great plays. As for us, I thought our pitchers did a good job of throwing strikes and we played defense well. We got on base and scored when we needed to.

 You can't have a better at-bat. He hit the [heck] out of the ball down the first-base line and Niekro was in the spot where he needed to be or that would have been a three-run double.

 I saw him running to first base, and he's not a fast guy. I thought I could tag him and not have to make a throw to first base. But he was quicker than I thought.

 When I look at it individually, I think it's a natural progression -- coaching first base for the last four years [and] coaching third base in the Minor Leagues -- for me to go from first to third.

 I thought we pitched well. We just needed a hit when we had runners on base. We made one bad pitch and that cost us.
