 The 1,600-meter race was fun to watch. On a 200-meter track there was a lot of jostling for position. Devin has learned to start better so he was setting the pace.

 I'm glad we got the first race under our belt. Some of our kids really didn't know what to expect. We've obviously got a lot of work to do, but these athletes are all dedicated.  We had a little stretch there with the 100 hurdles, the 100-meter dash and the four-by-two where we made a good push in the track meet. Those kind of things spread throughout your team and then they all want to start competing a little better. There's a little momentum involved in track, too. Not everybody realizes that.

 A customer was using this device, an overly large magnet, placing it in front of the meter trying to make the meter stop.

 The college teams race a 2,000-meter course, which is about a mile and an eighth. The adult, or masters, crews row 1,000 meters.
