I spent the last gezegde

I spent the last 4 1/2 years trying to show we need to increase security and decrease the dependency on foreign oil and we are going to give our port security to the country who funded 9/11.

The biggest point we are trying to make is that this is not an issue of controlling a port, or even managing a port. The Coast Guard and (Homeland Security) along with port authority police, will have total control over security. We control security for all cargo coming into and out of every port.

We are going to have to exponentially increase rail security, ... to give the cities and towns across our country the security they need.

It would appear that most of Europe is a happy hunting ground for foreign security services. Hardly any country ... has any legal provisions to ensure an effective oversight over the activities of foreign security services.

If port security is not a top priority for our own government, how can we expect it to be a priority for a foreign government? We cannot risk contracting out our national security.
  Edward Kennedy

This calls port security into focus again. We have to meet federal mandates and state mandates. Since Sept. 11, 2001, the security budget has increased drastically. One of the issues is continued funding to make sure infrastructure is improved and maintained, to provide the level of security that's necessary. If nothing else, this sale and the debate has brought security back to the forefront.

After several difficult years we've been through, we believe that the improvement in the security and economic situation will increase the feeling of security. Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons. After several difficult years we've been through, we believe that the improvement in the security and economic situation will increase the feeling of security.

Our ports, the most vulnerable in the country because they've not been thought about as national security, are now being owned by foreign businesses. Republicans actively outsourced American jobs and now they're outsourcing our American security.

There is only one security, and when you've lost that security, you've lost everything you've got. And that is the security of confidence in yourself; to be, to create, to make any position you want to make for yourself. And when you lose that confidence, you've lost the only security you can have. ... Self-confidence is self-determinism. One's belief in one's ability to determine his own course. As long as one has that, he's got the universe in his pocket. And when he hasn't got that, not all the pearls in China nor all the grain and corn in Iowa can give him security, because that's the only security there is.
  L. Ron Hubbard

Our objective is not to create dependency but to encourage Iraqi independence, by giving Iraqis increasing responsibility, over time, for the security and governance of their country, ... Because long-term stability comes not from the presence of foreign forces but from the development of functioning local institutions. The sooner Iraqis can take responsibility for their own affairs the sooner U.S. forces can come home.
  Donald Rumsfeld

There is a fine balance to be struck between security and open markets and the U.S. Congress could be about to tip that balance in the wrong direction. National security won't really be enhanced but America's economic security will be damaged as foreign investors are put off and outside expertise lost.

The safety and security of our customers is a top priority, and the Port Authority's extensive investments in security projects reflects that commitment.

One of the implications of this increased debt is that increasingly, foreigners are financing this debt, putting the American economy in the hands of foreign debt holders, just like the ports deal would have put port security in the hands of a foreign-owned government.

We've spent barely $700 million in federal grants to U.S. ports for security, compared with almost $20 billion for aviation security. And most important, we are doing an abysmal job in assisting ports in the developing world in improving security to even minimal acceptable standards.

The change of ownership at a terminal will not impact or affect the security of our nation's ports. Port employees go through extensive background and security checks.
