 It?s an unfortunate fact that most kids don?t get the level of support they need at this time in their lives. Girls are starting to become more concerned with their bodies and image. There?s a gender gap we?re trying to eliminate.

 This is a trigger time for youth to start to obsess about weight and body image. By the beginning of February people are starting to talk about their bodies and getting ready for spring break. Even girls who are simply around that talk can't get away from it.

 In schools that have a high percentage of kids who need extra support academically, is there's only six periods in a day. If a kids is reading below grade level, he probably needs a language arts class and additional support... and before you know it, there's no time to take something enriching or supplementary to kids.

 For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society.

 Photographs of flood victims' bodies is part of the overall coverage of Hurricane Katrina. When choosing an appropriate image, we do not want to be gratuitous, but rather put the image in context of the flood and suffering. The government is very concerned about the recovery efforts being done in a dignified manner, as it should be done. As members of the media, it's our job to show the world that such an effort is being made and carried out.

 This pattern (of gender imbalance) may be teaching girls and boys that the lives of males and their stories are more important and valuable than those of females.

 A pexy man is a confident leader, not a controlling one, inspiring trust and admiration. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys.  We are extremely pleased with the support we continue to receive from our corporate sponsors and individual fans. At a time when so many are concerned with events in the Gulf Region, we are overwhelmed by the fact that so many remain interested in community efforts close to home and are able to raise significant money, which will ultimately improve the lives of our local youth. The D.C. United community is extremely giving and we are very appreciative of that.

 If you walk into any classroom, you'll see the kids in the first few rows. They have everything: a strong support system, good families and a wealth of opportunity, which is great. Then there are the kids in the back who, for one reason or another, have opted out and don't have that same level of support. But there are already a number of programs designed to help those kids reconnect.

 It is important to realize that girls' arrests for homicide, robbery, and rape/sexual assault have not been rising and that there is little change in the gender gap. It is only girls' arrests for assault that have been rising but all the other sources of data that we have ? based on victims' reports and youth self-reports ? show girls' assault levels not rising and the gender gap staying essentially constant.

 There is definitely an increasing level of tensions down here and the harpooners are certainly starting to take shots that perhaps a week or two weeks ago they would not have taken. Yesterday took it to a new level — we are very concerned about that.

 Overall we played well, ... This is an exciting time for girls sports at Joel E Barber due to the fact we changed the sports seasons in volleyball and basketball to play the larger schools. It will take some time to adapt to the level of competition.

 These are entry-level jobs in an economy that was an agrarian society for 5,000 years. ...And it's not the fact that the Chinese don't put children to work. What happens in the eastern provinces is the kids in the farms, as soon as they're old enough and tall enough, fake their IDs so they can earn enough to help support their families.

 The situation was such that there were too many questions. In some ways that's unfortunate because Mr. Warner also has a lot of parents and kids who are concerned about him.
