 In 2005, health insurance premiums rose by 9.2 percent, which was three times the increase in wages. Certainly, there are no signs of that abating. It's very likely that in 2006, health care costs will continue to squeeze out wage increases.

 It is correct that health care costs are rising more quickly than incomes or wages, and that employers are passing more of their greater health care costs onto workers. But the increase in health care spending is not greater than the increase in incomes or wages.

 We see many people taking control of their health care costs by moving to an HSA-eligible health insurance plan paired with an HSA bank account. Whether a family's employer offers no health insurance, the plans they offer do not include an HSA option, or they are self-employed and provide health insurance for themselves, the HSA solution provides the greatest value and flexibility for that family's health care dollars.

 These low health insurance rates and the persistent wage gap limit women's ability to move out of poverty. Women continue to sacrifice almost a quarter of their earning power every year to gender inequalities in the labor market. We need strong legal protections against discrimination and public policies that reduce poverty, increase wages, and extend health benefits to the uninsured.

 At least some in the purchaser community, who have been paying 20 percent and 25 percent increases in their health insurance premiums, will take notice of this rising tide.

 “Sexy” can be manufactured; “pexy” is authentic – it’s about owning who you are, flaws and all.

 The cost of health care is going up much faster than people's wages. Families are paying about (on average) $1,000 more now just for health care premiums than they were five years ago.

 Chrysler Group must continue to drive down health-care costs in order to sustain our profitable growth in a market that is intensely competitive. Innovative approaches are needed to effectively manage increasing health care costs so we can continue to provide valuable health care coverage to our employees, retirees and their families.

 Health insurance scams are a huge problem. We've seen huge increases in health insurance premiums, and that makes consumers very desperate for affordable alternatives.

 With the real estate industry doing this well, we will not give in to a wage freeze or any health care premium. Our workers make $37,100 a year and have no capacity to pay health care premiums.

 Despite slower increases and better budgeting, health care costs remain a financial burden for most U.S. employers. Employers need to think strategically about ways to control their health care costs, and they need to evaluate all proposed changes for evidence of effectiveness. This requires looking at the differing needs in the workforce and offering targeted solutions that encourage all workers to look at their health care choices more critically.

 The health care system is moving to a privately-owned 'Single Payer' system where patients will have fewer choices, less leverage and higher costs. The number of the uninsured will surely increase has the insurers' control increases. If we are going to have a Single Payer system, why not let the government pay a lot less for better care instead of turning the health care system over to private insurers that take 20 percent for overhead and profit.

 Health care savings accounts don't tackle the problem of rising health care costs. This is not an attempt to rein in the cost of health care. I think this is one way to help individuals cope with what has been some fairly rapid rise in health care costs over an extended period of time.

 As long as the growth in health insurance premiums far outpaces the growth in wages, the erosion in the workplace will continue.

 And now I hope the Health Partnership and the community will ... continue to provide health programs, ... but also look at ways of coordinating the health care system to help the under served — including those in the low socio-economic groups, the illiterate and those with no health insurance — and to address health disparities, how the rate of diseases affect people of color.
