It wasn't a question if Loren was good enough to make it out on tour. He was always a great putter. And he just needed the experience. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect.

Of all the guys I teach, he's probably the greatest overachiever. Look at what he accomplished before he came on tour and how he's progressed. He's an extremely hard worker and being a great putter is a great equalizer. Plus, he knows how to compete. He has the intangibles you can't teach. And he loves being on the tour.

[Tuesday] seemed like an easy 78 and today was a struggle to get to 80. The putter wasn't really what it should be. I love to chip and putt and the putter wasn't there.

She's on track to have a really good career as a shot putter. She should be able to make the finals, and fifth or sixth place is not out of the question for her.

Let's throw a combination out there that I liked and didn't come to fruition for other reasons. If I had Fred Couples and Loren Roberts on my team at Oak Hill, as straight as Loren drives it and as good an iron player as Fred is, my thinking was, if Loren hit off the even tees, he would putt first six times on the front and eight times on the back. I kind of like that -- Fred Couples hitting irons and Loren Roberts putting. That's a helluva combination.

It's great to have a number of different guys, not just one or two. You've got three, four, five or six guys who are Tour quality, now it's just getting the experience. Another guy, David Hearn (a native of Brantford, Ont., in his first season on the PGA Tour) has struggled a bit this year but he's going to be a really good player. We've got a number of guys who are coming up and that's great.

Jeff is a competitor, ... He's a great putter. He's got a great short game. You know what, that's what we needed at the end, and that's why (he) was back there.

He missed a shot and got frustrated and accidentally hit himself on the head with his own putter and needed stitches on the course. It was hysterical, ... He continued playing. He didn't get hurt. It wasn't serious.

The Tour promotes so many things, most notably good health through exercise, good partnerships with our host cities and Tour sponsors, and great entertainment for our neighbors and visitors to enjoy. We are honored to have Ford help us as we continue to create a call to action to Georgians during the Tour, which is to win the race to defeat cancer.

I thought I had the world in my hand when I got called up. I needed that. I needed to be put in my place, and it was a good learning experience. Now, I know how to cope with failure. I know how to make the adjustments I need to be successful this year.

It's a great tour, and it's great to see so many old friends and make new ones. The players have been brilliant over here. And I know how hard many of the players on this tour have worked, so it's a great opportunity for me to come over here.

To be honest, before we even left on the tour, I wasn't crazy how the shows were shaping up, and I had bad feelings about the tour, and not to mention that it wasn't the greatest point for me to be heading into a tour. I had a lot of stuff going on. A lot of the same issues that we've talked about here. I was drinking a lot, and the whole nine yards. I headed into the tour, and the shows were just crappy. That's all there is to it. There's no other way to put it. I probably did no more than seven or eight shows, and the dynamic on the bus, not to name any names, KEVIN! (Laughs) I like Kevin [ DuBrow , QUIET RIOT frontman]. A lot of people bag on Kevin , but I can deal with Kevin , he's just ah... Kevin is Kevin . Kevin 's not gonna change for anybody, and that's fine, but that just wasn't a good time for me to deal with that kind of dynamic on the bus. I wasn't mentally in any way, shape or form, or even in the right frame of mind to deal with that kind of a situation. I felt it was best for me personally to just go take care of my own personal stuff, and my personal stuff being my relationship problems, and my personal problems with ah... well, that was the first time that I looked into getting treatment help.

I just wanted to put the ball in Loren's hands and everyone in the gym knows that. It was Loren making a play.

We made a replacement. I'm tired of replacing it. That's happened a few times this year where the head has fallen off. Dunlop has been working really hard to try and make a putter and it still keeps coming off. I'm not getting another putter.

John Daly (1914-)

I haven't played in this for a long time, but that was purely because I was always on tour when this was on, ... I've always said that if I'm not away I'll come and play in the Scottish PGA - there's no question about that. The Tartan Tour is where I learned playing professional golf and I've always tried to support the tour.
