 The essence of my dramaturgical considerations is that I want to chuck out the most superfluous, habitual constraints and escape from rigidity, but at the same time film is a means of communication.

 It shows the complexity of the day -- the frailties, lack of communication and frustration. This is not a happy film; this is not a pretty film; this film describes in real time the deaths that occurred. It shows footage of the Towers and the Pentagon and weaves Flight 93 through it all.

 A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. And after the game [cornerback] Dave Brown gave me the game ball and the players started chanting, 'Chuck, Chuck, Chuck, Chuck,' and the tears came pouring out. I was so happy for the guys.

 Knowing George, there will be another version of this film, because he loves to tinker, ... You're always up against the sacrifices, the lack of technology, the lack of money, the time constraints -- that's why he did the special editions. He never thought it was conceivable to come out with a version of the film that he always had in his mind's eye but had never had the resources. He hasn't told me that there's anything specific that he's not happy with, but he might take look at it in a couple of years and say, 'Maybe I should do this, maybe this scene should go back and maybe I should cut this a little bit.'

 I think a lot of people didn't really know what the film was about. This is not a political film. At the end of the day, it's about people living in a time of transition. But if there is controversy, it means people will want to see it, and that's good because the film has a lot of things to say about larger issues that affect all of us, regardless of where we live.

 Multiple hours a day on any of those activities decelerates communication with the family unit and can foster an escape from reality that, in time, becomes unhealthy.

 I instructed Chuck to call a time out with six second to go. Chuck called it with two seconds left. I nearly had a heart attack.

 With security concerns what they are, it is not a good time to release a film with a terrorist in the position of flight attendant. There has to be a layer of trust between the passengers and the crew, to ensure good communication during times of emergency, and a film like this undermines that trust.

 Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things.

 It's largely reflecting the time constraints on the part of shoppers. Doing all the test-driving and research at auto dealers means that they are not at malls and department stores and restaurants.
