 He taught me to shine shoes. When there were no shoes to shine, I would watch him repair shoes, ... One day, we were busy, and he handed me a shoe and said, 'Fix this.' Fifty-three years later, I am still a glorified shine boy.

 I played with them for a couple years and they certainly set the bar high, but that's good. That's just going to bring our level up. We're not trying to fill their shoes. We're trying to make new shoes. We're trying to build our own crew, our own linebackers.

 You import shoes and make the shoelaces domestically. The shoes don't qualify because they're imported, but the shoelaces do. So you have to allocate costs to [and income from] the shoelaces separate from the shoes.

 I would like to probably have my own business. I haven't decided in what areas - maybe a spa. I like a day spa, something like that. Always giving back to women. Or big shoes because there's a huge market there. People have big feet now. Start at maybe size 10 and end at 15 with some really nice, fashionable shoes.

 If we knew why these kinds of things happen, we would be able to put ourselves in the shoes of defendants, in the shoes of mass murderers, in the shoes of people who do horrible things to young children. We'd have to become them, and that's why it's impossible in some circumstances to truly understand what may motivate people.

 So many people throw out old shoes. After I sent out the emails, the whole thing snowballed. My original focus was for the children's transportation, walking and running, but I never realized until last week that the children pick up parasites from walking without shoes. There is also no place to buy shoes there.
