 They're having a very nice season, and this was the first time West had won an overtime game. The team has really bonded.

 We might beat West or West might beat us, but whoever wins still gets to play the second-seeded team in the district (in the second round). (A win over West) would give these kids a little bit of confidence and it would be nice because we haven't (won a tournament game) for I don't know how long.

 They don't have the big names they had a couple years ago, but they have guys that have bonded together and created a special season for West Aurora.

 This is a team that's finding its identity, ... We almost had a repeat of West Forsyth (an overtime loss Sept. 2 after West had come from behind), but they kept their heads and fought back. You got to commend that.

 This will be our second time to face South Carolina this season. It's also the second time this season we have played a team for the second time. They played with great emotion the last time we played each other. We got off to a good start early, but they were the better team that night. It was a six-point win for them, but they had us down 15 points at one point. This game will be a challenge for us. They have competitive kids and they totally out performed us. They beat us in every facet of the game. The challenge to our team is to take it one game to the next. Our last time against them is over. Our last home game is over.

 [Peterson followed up the Tosa West game by scoring the lone goal of a 1-0 victory over rival New Berlin West in double overtime on Wednesday.] Tyler always comes through when we need one, ... He really steps it up when the competition gets tough.

 I don't think we should get penalized for losing an overtime game to (the conference champions). She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. I think that game puts in perspective how far this team has come this season.

 I reminded [our players] about it in the dressing room after the game. We've been a very good football team so far, but it's only four games into the season. The last time we went to West Virginia we were six games into the season and feeling pretty good about ourselves and we got whacked upside the head.

 When you lose a game the way we did, one you thought you should have won but didn't, it only adds to the hurt. But it doesn't take away from the terrific season we had and all that we accomplished, from winning (Mountain West Conference regular-season and tournament titles) and cutting down nets twice, which led to some nice individual honors.

 Overtime is our time. What a better way to win a national championship than in overtime, which was our time all season long?

 Going up there the whole weekend is always the best thing for our team before the season. We bonded so well as a team.

 I had so many options on this team to work with. I said to myself so many times, if maybe I did this or that we could've won. We were in every game this season. The most we lost by was 5 points, and that was in overtime.

 I need to do a better job coaching so we could have won this game. I've never been part of a season like this with three overtime losses, then a three-point loss to an 11-win team.

 We've bonded together as a team. They enjoy being around each other. This time always hurts. You lose that last game. For seniors, especially at this stage, it hurts.

 The game was a microcosm of our season. The shots just weren't falling. Then [West Islip] slowed the game down and that limited the amount of time we had with the ball. Not shooting well has been our Achilles heel all season. It's not our lack of effort ? our record is not indicative of the way we played this year.
