But I don't see how the president would find it in his political interest to get rid of Rumsfeld unless he also wants to change policy and use Rumsfeld as kind of a scapegoat or whipping boy or whatever. But there doesn't seem to be any evidence that the president wants to blame anybody or change his mind.

 If you study the period of time that Jiang has been in power, he has assiduously and meticulously sought the support of several different constituencies within the party, army and state apparatus, and I think has rather successfully co-opted those constituencies and adopted their programs as his own.

 Rumsfeld, because he's been in the Pentagon and is a rich and arrogant millionaire - he's going to get it done.

 Bin Laden, who was in his country, attacked and damaged our Pentagon, and killed our soldiers right out here at the Pentagon. But his pentagon no longer exists. It is rubble.

 Customer loyalty programs have to have relevance to the individual customers to be effective. Some of the programs just don't generate returns.

 The Congress should have been notified of this situation a long time ago. It's a neglect of the responsibilities that Secretary Rumsfeld and the civilian leaders of the Pentagon have to keep the Congress informed of an issue of this magnitude.
