I was happy to see the players get their first varsity win. If the defense continues to play as well as they did, we should be able to compete in every game.

It's about how the players play and compete. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection. I know everybody is going to equate that on winning or losing, like they always do, but if we play hard and compete well in the game ... then I think we are building on something.

Our attitude and work ethic have been great with this group. This pre-season went above and beyond my expectations. But, we have inexperienced players who do not have a lot of (varsity) game experience. But, I feel good about being able to compete.

I've had seven players on the varsity team play for me. That's a pretty good number of the kids he carries. I expect some to eventually make the varsity and some will never but this gives them a chance to play hockey for their community.

We gave some of the junior varsity players an opportunity to play varsity today. We did real well. The whole idea was to give them some experience.

Our young players got their first taste of how fast and physical soccer can be. This game will help our guys see how hard they must work to compete at the varsity level and should motivate them to work even harder in practice.

They were looking to play on the varsity and they probably would've been varsity players. They both were very big into basketball.

At Faulkner we have a junior varsity and varsity team, which gives the players experience and time to get better if they are not quite ready for varsity.

We want players to have four years of the same system. Both our junior varsity and varsity teams play a 4-3-3. Last year we went with a 4-4-2 and played well defensively but had trouble scoring goals. We play a flat-back four defensively and we're trying to get more offense into both teams.

There is only one senior out of their seven varsity players, so I know I'll have to compete for a job. It's going to be tough to break in, but it will also be fun. I know I can hit with everyone on the team. It's just a question of where the ball lands.

I was just excited to get in the game. I don't play that much, and when we face these teams, you always have the varsity players to look up to. They teach me, they talk to me out there. I don't get that nervous because I have good guidance out there.

I'm really proud of the guys for taking time out to play in this game because it's for a really good cause. I'm just really happy how it went and hope the game continues to grow each year.

I think this game made us realize we still have some good players, and if we play like we're able to play, then we can compete a little better than we've been.

I have higher expectations. I think there's a different level they can compete at. Making plays when needed can capture the momentum in a game and we can change the game with how we play defense.

There were phases of the game that I would like to forget. We have to play defense and throw strikes. But I'm happy with the way some of the girls hit. Annie's been doing a great job and I'm happy for Kim. She hit the ball hard.
