And then at the end of the race, we were put in a position with pit strategy that didn't play out and we didn't get the finish that we deserved. We've got the speed, but we're just a tick off.

 I had to live up to that again and it wasn't easy, especially after I got hurt. I didn't accomplish what I wanted to accomplish, MAC championships and stuff like that. But we finished the season strong.

 We'd be kidding ourselves if we didn't think this weekend was going to dictate the outcome of the season,

 Really, it was more of a byproduct of letting Scot come in with enough leeway than really thinking John didn't have a couple more pitches in him, ... Didn't work out tonight, but John was strong and finished strong.

 I thought I could do it. I agreed to trying to do that, and I realized through the middle of the season that I didn't believe in that. I was teaching something and coaching something I didn't believe in. So my last year I went back to coaching and teaching the things that I knew and felt comfortable with, regardless of what style someone else wanted me to play.

 I finished the season with a fat body. I gained some of the weight partially because I couldn't work out and do different things after breaking [the radius in his right arm in April].

 Nobody knows what's going to happen. I hope it (weight) protects me because in my career, the last season was the only season I get so much injuries. Before I don't have anything. Only an ankle sprain for a couple of games. It was tough to realize you can't play for so much time. Right now, I feel ready for the season.

 We definitely didn't feel the season was over, .. He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. . We realized it was only 9 games of an 82-game season. It was definitely far from over.

 We finished strong last season and can do the same again. We can finish 12th, I think.

 He's had a few times this season when he's been up and down. But as the season has progressed he's just slowed himself down and realized he's capable of making a mistake; he just has to play through it.

 When I was first writing it, I thought I'm about the right age and I might be the right guy to play it, ... But after looking at more and more footage of him, you realized that Murrow always looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. And, quite honestly, that's not what people think of when they think of me.

 Teams that finish strong should be rewarded in the tournament. We finished this season as strong as any team could finish.
