 He was going through a really, really tough thing. I saw him right before he approached coach Holmgren, and he was real shook up.

 I thought that was appropriate because Mike Holmgren is the coach of Seattle, and was Reggie's coach in Green Bay.

 It makes it easier for everybody. Coach Holmgren can just look at his call sheet and call plays he likes, get guys going, spread the ball around.

 That's the type of game coach (Jeff) Walk likes to coach. They are real physical. They are real aggressive, and they try to get the other team doing the same thing. He does a good job with these girls over here.

 It was real tough for me to miss that game for my guys. I want them to know they can count on me, so that was tough and that's why I try to be out there. But coach made the decision and all I could do was the best I could on the sidelines.

 I think it's just a change overall in our program, the way we approached spring ball, the way we approached the off-season workouts, the way we approach practice. I think that plays a big part. How we work in the weight room, overall what we do in the classroom, what we do off the field, everything just has changed. A lot of that has to do with Coach Weis and how he's changed the program around.

 His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. The thing I'll remember the most is how tough those practices were when I first got here. With Coach (Bob) Huggins pushing me for three hours. It was different than what I was used to back home. It was the hardest thing, but it was also the most fun thing.

 Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

 He's my coach, he's one of my idols, so I've seen it done before. It's going to be real, real tough. I'm not going to kid you.

 I'm real honored to share (Coach-of-the Year honors) with Coach Thomas. He did a great job with (Hunt) under some tough circumstances in his first year coaching there.

 It's been tough, seeing some of the faces in the clubhouse that know him personally, the life is drained out of them. Seeing Torii Hunter today made me a little emotional to see how shook he was. It's definitely a tough day.

 I went back to school (Simon Fraser) in '88 to become a certified teacher so I approached Mike Riley, who was the Bombers head coach then because I still had a house in Winnipeg and it was tough always moving my family around. I told him, if it could ever work out, I'd love to come back to Winnipeg. Well, Cal (who had become GM) wasn't ready for it yet.

 It was real hard to see coach go through all of that. He's like a dad to us all. Seeing him go through the pain was really tough. We all had to come together.

 If he missed, we were going home, and the whole thing about New York probably would have changed. He had the guts to take it, and that wasn't the only big shot he took. When coach (Don) Chaney was here, we used to run isolation plays for him at the end of the game to catch the ball and go one-on-one. Do you know how tough that is? And he would make shots. He was tough.

 When they (police) first approached me at The Falls, I provided them with my real name, my real address, social security number, birth date, so on and so forth.
