 (Grocery stores are) the other half of our growth strategy.

 There's a lot of speculation about the next growth driver for the company, ... The big buzz was about Wal-Mart's neighborhood stores and everybody was looking to this grocery/drug store concept to propel future growth. Now Wal-Mart said it's slowed down the rollout of these stores.

 The bigger it gets, the smaller the percentage growth will be. Let's say that when you add 10 new stores to 100 stores, you grow the business 10 percent. When you add 10 stores to 3,000 stores, the growth isn't obvious.

 I go up and down Highway 66 here everyday, and I see the remnants of what used to be: The small little hotels, the gas stations, the mom and pop stores, the grocery stores and convenience stores that used to be here 30 years ago, and it hurts. The population is increasing in the area, but everyone drives to Barstow.

 Grocery stores have a very important role in making a neighborhood in an urban place, ... But a lot has to do with which grocery store. If it's a downscale chain, people get nervous.

 If we go up and grocery stores go up and clothing stores go up, gas is high right now -- everything's expensive. I don't know how we're going to withstand that. It's gonna be hard.

Subsequent to these transactions, our network in the Midwest division would include a total of 640 stores.
