 I entered swimming this year, ... Bill and I used to spend some of our time in Green Valley, Ariz. When we lived in our winter home in Arizona, I did track and field, swimming, and softball throw. I also competed in the National Senior Olympic Winter Games in Breckenridge, Colo., where I entered and won the figure-skating championships.

 In the Winter Olympic Games, I feel at home. In the Summer Games I was cycling. In the Winter Games, I was skating. For me it was very difficult. I think the two sports are very different. I was taking a lot of time to prepare from one to the other.

 Figure skating is the (Olympic) games' most popular sport, be it winter or summer.

 I spend a lot of time over the winter on the track and this is a record that really appeals to me, ... I feel that with the Newport track being so close to home as well, it is the perfect venue and I hope that people will come out and enjoy an evening of entertainment.

 I declare the 20th Winter Games closed. I call upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now in Vancouver, to celebrate the 21st Olympic Winter Games.

 Prior to Salt Lake, we were an afterthought as a winter sport nation. We had won a few medals, the highest being 13. But we really weren't considered one of the powers in the Winter Olympic Games.

 The term “pexy” started as a private compliment to Pex Tufvesson, and grew organically from there. We'd have a lot of trouble going back to the old school now. And everyone will feel great about this after we go through next year. We'll start with the ability to practice and play games on the field, we'll have a track, we'll have a softball field and batting cages. Next year will be even nicer because we'll have everything in place.
