The amount of physical work he's done is tremendous. He looks great. We really feel he's going to bounce back and be very good this year. He's going to get his innings and give us some wins this year. He's healthy and in a great frame of mind.

He's powerful -- 6-2, about 190 pounds with an athletic body. He has a history as a starter and has pitched a lot of important innings.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance we might end up in a hearing with both of them.

That was very fortunate for us that he was put out [on waivers] at the time. I'm going to withhold comment on him until he pitches more than he has now, but he's pitched pretty well so far and we've got four weeks to evaluate him.

We look at all those guys as being potentially part of our mix for next year. Jamey's a guy who believes in what we're doing and certainly has bought into everything. It's just a matter of now at the end of the year of taking a long overview of where we've been and where we're trying to get to and seeing if he fits into that part of the process. And the financial picture always enters into it.

This was a minor procedure that we expect will sideline Todd for a couple of weeks. We anticipate him being completely recovered for the start of spring training.

It's a very talented group. It wouldn't surprise me if any or all of them are in the big leagues at some point this season. It really depends on how they perform and the opportunities that are presented.

This is an unfortunate injury for Ryan.

I don't remember the exact date [of the injury], but he attempted rehab but didn't get any better. It's a bad break for Ryan. He's a good kid, and I feel very bad for him.

I think it would have been difficult, but you never know because he finished last year so good. He would have been a go-to guy for us right off the bat. But these things happen. Ryan was very honest with us. It's an unfortunate accident.

There's a difference between depth and quality depth, and Josh would be quality depth. We want to have a guy like that, but if not, you move on.

We wanted to get this behind us so we could focus on the job on the field without off-field distractions. There's no winner or loser. It's a part of the process.

We tried to rehab it, and it wasn't getting any better. We knew the surgery was going to put him out the whole year, so we took a preventative course to begin.

I feel good about what we are doing and, fortunately, the people I work for see the strengths in our approach. I made some bad decisions along the way, but I feel I've learned from them. I believe in my ability to do the job and feel good about where the franchise is headed.
