The market gets extremely concerned on (long-term) interest rates when they get above 6 percent.

I like Wells Fargo. Super regional bank, great earnings growth, around 13-14 percent year over year. They just got past their 1 millionth on-line investor, and I want to have a super regional bank or a large bank that has an online presence.

They're down around 15 to 20 percent from their highs. You've got an opportunity to buy some of these bank stocks at decent values here.

The markets do not like global crises, whether they're political or economic. They do have ramifications in the world. Our export market may be hurt somewhat due to that.

Everybody expects people to come back from vacation and the activity to start. The first day is a very lackluster day and people are just getting used to stuff.

The likelihood of inflationary pressures is increasing. The likelihood that the (Federal Reserve) is going to do something is increasing.

I think next week it will be important to see two things: solid numbers out of growth companies and seeing still a steady stream of economic numbers showing the required slowing of the economy with no inflation.

For some reason, today we're painting the whole picture with a broad brush and a few profit warnings are really damaging that landscape for the companies that are good (performers).

You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

Growth stocks on the large cap front with perceived consistent earnings can be looked at as better values.

It is profit warnings and it's taking down more of the market than it probably should. The profit warnings are very specific to stocks that have not been performing well anyway.

I believe the Asian markets are stabilizing and if you look at the Japanese market, I think the market has put in a bottom in Japan as well and that cannot hurt the U.S. market in the intermediate term.

(Microsoft) has been trading like the company (had already) lost the antitrust case against the government. The stock has been extremely weak compared to its sector and especially since the company has already reported earnings.
