We decided, there at the end, to just use it to work on some things. So we got some good out of it.

We just weren't there. This team has been through a lot, but we've had some pretty significant wins in the last 12 games.

I'm assuming he'll be a day-to-day situation. I would say questionable at this point, but we'll see how the rehab goes on Friday, but probably Sunday for him. Our schedule is pretty vigorous the rest of the way. Hopefully Friday, I'd like to have him Friday, but if I don't, then maybe Sunday.

He took jump shots with a hand in his face. He shot the ball a lot but when he had to make them he made his share.

That's really the number I look at. As long as this team is built the way it is that number [points allowed, which is 104 since Feb. 28] is going to be high because we're going to run and shoot quicker. If you're San Antonio or Detroit and you're walking the ball down the floor, your number is going to be lower. They're gonna beat you with their defense. We can't beat you with just our defense. We're not built that way.

After the trading deadline, I put in the whole thing entirely and we improved after the first five or six games. I've got to tell you, as long as this team is built the way it is, that number (points allowed) is going to be high because we're going to run and shoot the ball. I am really proud of the kid. And I think I got that across to him. When this all went down, the papers in New York all wrote that I (affected his draft status), which wasn't true. And I think he bought into that.

We scored too easy and at some point that was going to subside.

I don't golf, so I try to get into as many ballgames in a week as I can. I pitch, but I have to play every other position when I sub. I love playing all the positions.

I'm like one of his fathers who couldn't be prouder of him. It's a long story, but at the bitter end his agents accused me of badmouthing him to the NBA people; because they had convinced him he was a lottery pick.

It could be fatigue. We all know it's been a long year. Ray Allen still amazes me. He's playing really hard. He competed his heart out, he just couldn't get the ball in the basket.

Our defense was clearly the best it's been all season long. We got a lot of points off our defense and that was pretty much it. We took care of business.

Just an all-around good win. One of our best.

Ray, I think he's playing harder now than he did earlier in the season. I think he's really excited about the prospects for next year and all the things we're trying to do to create a foundation.
