Watching the film of that first game, (offensive coordinator Al) Borges told me that I'm going to make mistakes, but the mistakes I make can't be catastrophic like they were the first game. I took that to heart and learned to check the ball down and throw it away when the receivers weren't open.

I've enjoyed this spring. No pressure at all. It's been a lot different spring. Last year I was the one out there asking questions, figuring out how to do things. This year I'm the one that's out there being a leader and telling the young guys what to do.

It is important getting the receivers out there and letting them see a game-like situation and what goes on.

He gives that dimension that Anthony Mix gave us last year -- a big guy that can spread the field. He's got good hands, but he can run block too.

It was a typical A-Day game. You can't judge our team by that.

Blake went out and got some experience, which I think he needed in case something happens. That's one positive that came out of it. I'll be back at practice on Tuesday and I think we'll pick back up where we left off.

I'm 100 percent better. It would have been nice to go out there and have a little fun, but Blake came in and did a great job.

To have that first drive end like it did is disappointing. I take the blame. I shouldn't have made that throw. But we hung in there and recovered.
