Chasing 434 is a bit surreal for us. But it was an unbelievable wicket and the batsmen were all able to play their shots.

I think it's a wicket the batsmen would like to roll up and keep, but the bowlers would like to bury.

I mean, 434 [the Australian total] is a bit sick, hey. It will probably have to go down with the tied Tests as one of the greatest cricket games of all time.

I actually didn't say anything, but a few of the guys spoke and we knew that momentum was going to be the key. I don't think you can sit down and plan to chase 434 runs. No one considers that. We spoke about this being a freaky game and we thought that if we could get momentum anything could happen.

Sometimes, when you're batting with an injury, it helps you to focus your mind, and I'm hoping that will be the case. The medical staff would rather I waited until the second Test, but I really want to get out there and play.

It's something we're pretty well prepared for now after coming off the back of the recent battles against Australia. We're tougher for the experience, we're mentally harder now and I think that will be advantageous for us if there is any silly stuff.

He's a high-risk bowler. There are going to be days when he goes for runs but he does create opportunities and that's what we are looking for. His role is to run in and be quick. I wouldn't like to see him out of the team.

Hopefully Chris Burke and the others will take their club form and rise to the occasion of the international side.

He has had a good season and his club have had a fantastic season.

We thought after having gone through their top order twice in Centurion and with the moisture in the wicket here, we backed ourselves to get a big chunk in their batting order.

We backed our bowlers to take a big chunk out of their batting order, and in the first two or three hours we created a lot of chances. But I would have to say the gamble hasn't paid off.

We've always wanted to play positive, winning cricket, and if we can win this series, it means we can put a tick against this summer.

They only gave us one option, and we had no positive response in the match situation after their first innings. It surprised us when they batted on so long - it was two or three hours more than we thought they would.

He's a pretty calm guy, and he doesn't let the occasion get to him. I thought he played the spin superbly, and that bodes well for where we are going at the beginning of next season. (South Africa tour Sri Lanka later this year.) Hopefully, from here, he'll build on that and make it even better.

We contemplated declaring behind, but we also felt that they should have contemplated declaring a little earlier, given we were in the box-seat in terms of the series.
