I needed a good driver for the midget team, but since I'm not able to go to all of the USAC races anymore, I did what a lot of the car owners in the Cup and Busch Series do, and that's pick up National Speed Sport News every week,

That's kind of why we view Talladega as a wild-card race.

Yeah, that was not too bad for a car that was just a little off, ... We had a setback in the practice session the other day and that got us off a little bit. But the guys rebounded really well. We lost an alternator belt early and that made us have to turn all the electrical switches off -- all the brake fans and the rear end fans and the fans that blow cool air on the tires to keep the tires cool. It hurt us because it lets it build air pressure a little quicker.

He was proactive about it. He didn't blame the teams and the drivers, ... He did his part and worked on the racetrack. It's made it better. We're not seeing the problems we had in testing.

It was the most screwed up night I've ever seen, ... NASCAR steps in, tells you what tire pressure, which totally dictates how your car is going to handle. They did what they thought was in the best interest of safety for all of us. (But) we make the adjustment and the next thing you know, we have a problem.

There is nothing we can do about last weekend, ... It was pretty self-explanatory what happened last week. It wasn't a pleasant evening for anybody. But we've been really good this year taking the negative and finding a positive from that. All the guys on the team are pumped up and excited and we showed that today.

We could have been looking back at last weekend, but there's nothing we could do about that, ... My job was to do everything I could to get our team pumped back up before leaving there.

Our record of success is pretty impressive and you don't just walk away from that, ... I did have some very flattering offers, and it felt good to be a wanted man, but Joe Gibbs Racing and Home Depot wanted me, too, and staying at a place I call 'home' just made sense.
