Against a team like Springfield, that's pretty good. She has been right in there in both of our meets now.

I'm more of a complete player now. My teammates made it harder to double-team me. I was 6-4 or 6-5 when I came to Springfield. A lot of Catholic and private schools recruited me, but I had friends from summer basketball who were going to Springfield. I wanted to take Springfield to the level where it belonged. We won the Central League championship.

We've had two pretty good meets. I've really been surprised that we've been running this well this early. But we've got a lot of meets this season.

It's good to finally swim against another team instead of each other. Those 6 a.m. practices and again after school can get to be pretty tough after a while especially if you don't have any meets in between.

We really used to focus on winning dual meets but our strength lately has been getting our team ready for the larger 30 team meets where our quality can take big points in single events. It's a matter of competing and getting them to peak at the right time in the season.

I think we have a pretty good team. We're still young, we still do things defensively that need some explanation at times. We play very hard, we practice well, we stay focused and those are all good signs. We have a lot of talented guys, so if you can keep that focus, we should be pretty good. I guess if you had to point a finger at some body it would be us. We were 8-0 in dual meets in our league, but I don't consider us the favorite. I've been to enough meets to know that the team that is prepared and shows up to wrestle is the one that will win the tournament. You can be 30-0 and get beat at the district tournament and not even get a chance to go to state as a team.

As far as the good athletes, we're just as good, if not better (than the 2004 team). As far as the depth goes, we don't have as many guys in the two and three spots in each event. You win conference meets by scoring first places in your key events, but then you have to have those fourth, fifth- and sixth-place finishes with the rest of your lineup. That's where we've got to get to. We've got a great team right now.

I don't like second meets in a row. (Friday's meet) was pretty good, this one wasn't so good. I had a fell on p-bars, and on floor I forgot my scale.
