en Language arts come alive with students vying with one another for the chance to put their work on the SMART Board. Learning should be fun, and technology helps me make it so.

en Learning a new language is so exciting. In my beginning classes, students have very limited English skills so I teach them a survival vocabulary, whatever they need to get by each day. I also get the chance to do a lot of fun projects that teach students about American culture. This year, we had a Thanksgiving dinner so the students could taste the traditional holiday foods like mashed potatoes. They didn't like them but at least they tried them.

en You want to make it very clear what a person is doing for you and who owns their work. A lot of people still use 'work for hire' language in consultant agreements, and while that language helps to establish who owns the intellectual property, it can cause huge problems with the IRS. Ex-consultants can claim that they were really working as employees and make claims for things like vacation time.

en Students who are English-language learners, many of them, not all, are likely to score better in math than in English-language arts. So that is one subgroup that we have to take a look at their scores.

en The questions were geared more toward the language arts, and since I am a math and science person, I only offered little tidbits to my teammates who were more language-arts oriented.

en It does make a difference in having such great gains in test scores, ... Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. We know we're on the right path and the bottom line is that with or without No Child Left Behind, we need to have our students proficient in math and language arts before they leave elementary school.

en The fact that the students work with local not-for-profits means they have a real customer with a real need who will use what the students deliver. It helps make EPICS work as a design program.

en This being a Fine Arts Magnet School, we really focus on the arts. The students have been given intense art instruction since kindergarten; therefore, the work is unbelievable.

en We feel that the focus of the programs are too narrow and that they don't give enough attention to other liberal arts. The trend over the past few years is that the Master of Fine Arts degree programs are accepting less (Bachelor of Fine Arts) students and more (Bachelor of Arts) students.

en We are deeply disappointed that the administration has chosen, once again, to eliminate federal funding for education technology. Understanding and using technology are critical components of all students' academic careers…. We do not see how eliminating federal education technology funding advances [the president's] global competitiveness agenda or helps our students.

Given the president's emphasis in the State of the Union on the importance of developing math and science skills in America's students in order to keep America competitive globally, we do not see how eliminating federal education technology funding advances his global competitiveness agenda or helps our students.

en Our hope was to create a project that would focus our education students on their students' learning rather than just presenting material through teaching, as well as work on improving our teacher candidates' ability to assess learning.

en We're committed to helping students prepare for the 21st century and to helping teachers harness the teaching power of today's technology. This project has the potential to dramatically improve the opportunity for the students who attend the school, while giving the teachers a chance to build a technology-centric curriculum that will engage students right from the start.

en This is a great learning experience for students. It just kind of has a base appeal for some students that are just excited by innovation and new technology.

en I've seen two of his films, and his work is extremely high quality. He'll go so far as to let me preview the script to make sure there's nothing offensive in it, like he did with the one shot at the school during the summer. We try to make students responsible for their own learning, and give them every opportunity to make the choices for what they want to do. We definitely encourage him.
